Eighteen months ago, the fourth generation of the legendary full-size luxury SUV entered the market. It’s still a fairly new vehicle, and we usually don’t expect bigger changes in the near future. However, the fact is that its closest competitor, Cadillac Escalade, will be completely new this year, so Lincoln is likely to prepare a response. Currently, we can only count on speculation and many are proposing a new transport set, as well as some other smaller updates. The company is said to be introducing a new hybrid version, while we can also see some updates to the standard equipment.
While we are still waiting to hear from officials, these rumors are unlikely to appear at all. It’s no secret that Ford is working on a new hybrid system that would power SUVs and big trucks, so the 2021 Lincoln Navigator Hybrid could be one of the first models to have such an arrangement.
However, details are still not available, although most reports indicate it will be based on the V6 engine.
Although the hybrid model has not yet been confirmed, we have no doubt that the current gasoline version will continue without major changes. Of course, it’s a modern twin-turbo V6 engine, and it’s the same as the F-150 Raptor. It currently has a maximum output of about 450 hp. Despite the “ lack ” of the cylinders, they actually provide more power than many competitors who support the V8.
Coupled with a 10-speed automatic transmission, it probably provides the best driving experience today. Even fuel consumption seems pretty decent for the class. About 16 mpg is back in town and 23 mpg is on the highway.
Some may suggest a plastic surgery for this occasion, but we think it is too early to make such changes. The 2021 Lincoln Navigator will likely continue the familiar design, as changes continue for another year. Even if this update occurs, we do not expect a major change. The updates will be accurate and the overall style will definitely keep its familiar features.
From the inside, we don’t expect bigger changes either. The current 2021 Lincoln Navigator model already has ultra-fine interiors, soft materials and lots of standard equipment. So, the best we can see are some new color schemes. Regardless, things largely remain the same.
This is the side where we can see some updates. However, keep in mind that the current model is already very generous, so do not expect miracles. Things like 10 inch touch screen, smartphone integration, 14-speaker audio system, navigation, satellite radio, Wi-Fi hotspot and more are all standard features. Some reports suggest a premium 20-speaker audio system may also be available in base models.
The list of standard security systems can be longer in the current model and there we can see updates for 2021 Lincoln Navigator. Currently standard features include a rear view camera, blind spot monitoring, rear traffic warning, front and rear parking sensors, while more advanced features are optional. Some potential candidates that could become standard on the upcoming model include things like a 360-degree camera, emergency brakes, adaptive cruise control, collision warning, display screen, etc.
The new powertrain appears to be a nice upgrade, but it appears that the 2021 Lincoln Navigator will not come soon. We should see him in the last quarter of next year. The price shouldn’t change much, so the base models are likely to hit around $ 73,000 – $ 74,000.
