2021 Toyota Highlander Review – Design, Engine, Release date and Price

The class of three-row SUVs is hotter than ever. There are many new models that have recently arrived, while the redesign is normal almost every year. This is why Highlander is no exception. The popular medium sized crossover is completely redesigned. The new generation has already been introduced and must enter the market by the end of the year. For this design, the Japanese company prepared a complete set of novelties.

First of all, there is a new platform and also a completely new design. The new model is also slightly larger, so you can count on more interior space. Finally there are new things under the hood. Given all this, the 2021 Toyota Highlander, as models for the second year, should not contain any more important developments.

2021 Toyota Highlander Exterior

Redesigned Highlander at the end of the year, just like the 2020 Annual Model. Due to the number of changes, 2021 Toyota Highlander will continue in the same manner. We do not expect any major change to this model. The next redesign is about to bring about improvements in many aspects. First of all, there is a new TNGA platform that offers improvements in handling and overall ride quality. The new model is also much lighter, which also promises to improve fuel efficiency.

Of course the new Highlander also brings new design. The new look is inspired by the recently redesigned RAV4 model, so the Highlander now looks more attractive compared to the previous very conservative model. It is also important to note that the new model is slightly larger, with a slightly longer wheelbase, which should provide more space inside. Given all these novelties, the best we can see in 2021 Toyota Highlander are some new color options.

2021 Toyota Highlander Interior

This redesign also brings in a completely new interior, so we have no doubt that 2021 Toyota Highlander will continue in the same way. As we just mentioned, the new model is a little bit taller, so we’re counting on more space inside. This is important because the outgoing model does not have the most comfortable third row. Hope this will change. This, of course, is not the only modernity.

The new cabin features an entirely new design, with a new dashboard design. The material quality has improved, while there are many new technical jobs. All of these novelties look natural, given that this class has become very heavy nowadays, with new models such as the Subaru Ascent, Kia Telluride and Hyundai in the CSS, and with the greatly improved Ford Explorer.

2021 Toyota Highlander Engines

2021 Toyota Highlander with two powertrain options available under the hood. Basic models continue with the 3.5-liter V6 engine, which in this case saves about 295 HP. These are the typical numbers for the separation, as well as the towing capacity, which will reach about 5,000 pounds. On the other hand, there is a great modernity that is a new hybrid system. Instead of the V6, the new powertrain now relies on a smaller 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine.

This resulted in a significant decrease in production, as it decreased to 240 hp. On the other hand, fuel consumption has improved significantly and is now easily exceeding 33 mpg on a combined trip. Interestingly, the AWD is not for sale with the Hybrid Powertrain.

2021 Toyota Highlander release date and price

Assuming that 2021 Toyota Highlander will mark the second production year of the current generation and that there will not be much change, we should see it somewhere late in the following year. Price details are still not available, but we do not expect any further deviations from the current model, which starts around $ 31,600.
