2021 Volkswagen Touareg Review – Design, Engine, Release date and Price

While drivers in North America still regard Volkswagen as an economic brand, the fact that this company has many very luxurious models, starting with the amazing Phaeton and ending with the Touareg. This is why this mid-size crossover has not had any notable success in the market, and this is the main reason why the German company decided to design an entirely new American car. The market, called Atlas. On the other hand, the Tuareg is no longer available and is now only available in other parts of the world, especially in markets like Europe and China. Moreover, the new generation has recently arrived, more luxurious than ever so we doubt that 2021 Volkswagen Touareg will make more important changes. We expect to see it somewhere next year.

2021 Volkswagen Touareg Design

The easiest way to realize how luxurious the new 2021 Volkswagen Touareg is is to look at the specifications. There is an overview of the Volkswagen range of economical cars on the ultra-modular MQB platform. On the other hand, the new Touareg relies on an MLB architecture that prevents the models from all the group’s luxury brands. This means that the new Touareg not only shares most parts with models such as the Audi Q7, but also Bentley Bentayga and Porsche Cayenne, for example.

2021 Volkswagen Touareg interior

The interior of the 2021 Volkswagen Touareg should contain more significant changes compared to the original 2019 model. This is definitely bad, because this SUV has one of the best cabs out there. The overall dashboard design features very clean horizontal lines and the dominant part is of course the central console and dashboard.

There you’ll find two big screens, because the Touareg is completely digital. You won’t find many analog controls, but this is not the most impressive thing about us. The overall quality of the materials is simply amazing. Wooden sections, leather upholstery and premium quality materials make this crossover similar to all premium models in this category. Moreover, it looks more luxurious than some competitors, like the BMW X5.

2021 Volkswagen Touareg engines

Given that 2021 Volkswagen Touareg will not come to North America, oil burners will remain the focus of attention. The newest of course is the new 4.0-liter V8 TDI, which is good for around 415 hp, and is the most powerful engine in the entire VW engine arrangement. Interestingly, it is not the most powerful Touareg, because the first generation was available with the massive V12 engine, which was good for about 445 hp.

The rest of the range consists of reliable 3.0-liter TDI units, which are available in various power levels ranging from 205 to 285 hp. There are also a few petrol units in the range. The base models come with a turbo quad unit, which is good for about 250 hp. There is also a V6 option, about 335 hp.

In China, you can also get an extra hybrid version based on the 2.0-liter small petrol engine. The entire system accounts for about 367 hp.
