2022 GMC Yukon Full Review
The 2022 GMC Yukon will likely launch Tuesday in Vail, Colorado, and it is the biggest change to a family SUV in more than a decade.
The seven-seater SUV is bigger than before, with more upscale decor inside and out, and the top shelf tops the Yukon Denali vintage SUVs looking for a richer interior that matches the exorbitant dollar. Also new for 2022, the Yukon AT4 Off-Road Edition adds thicker tires, skid plates and low-range crossover boxes – if the Yukon dares to leave the road.
2022 GMC Yukon redesign
When it comes to the large three-row game rack that attracts the family, it will be tough to beat the 2022 GMC Yukon and Yukon XL 2022 when they go on sale. The new Yukon was redesigned from its inception through 2022, borrowing the mechanics from a Chevy Tahoe and Suburban, but continuing in its own way with unique looks and many new features.
The cabin is wider and more complete than last year’s model and cargo space has also been increased – all better for family holidays, trips to the Home Depot and custom parties.
Three different engine variants will be offered – two V-8 petrol and six turbo diesel – all linked to a 10-speed automatic transmission controlled via a GMC push-button selector. The all-new Yukon Arc is prepared for 2022 and drives a new platform alongside the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, but uses a different approach. Like the Chevys cars, the 2022 GMC Yukon will come with independent rear suspension, a first for GM’s full-size SUV.
2022 GMC Yukon Interior
The interior is available in a variety of flavors – from the standard SLE spec to the premium Denali – the Yukon and Yukon XL promise long-wheelbase seats for up to eight, although ordering the popular second-row captain’s seat would reduce the overall capacity to seven.
The Denali top model offers a unique interior with a wood-finished instrument panel and hand-embroidered leather seats. The new electric sliding center console is available on SLT, AT4, and Denali models, allowing the driver to move the center console back and forth across a 10-inch track to make room for larger front-line loads such as bags or backpacks to conceal. little things. When we get a new 2022 GMC Yukon for testing, we fill it with our luggage to see how suitable it is. All Yukon models come with a large infotainment display with the latest IntelliLink interface from GMC. We found a system easy to use on other models, but didn’t test it in the new Yukon.
SLE, SLT and AT4 models feature a high-end display in the center of the dashboard, but the Denali is surrounded by polished chrome and integrated into the dashboard for a more refined look. Auto integration of Apple CarPlay / Android and 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot are all standard equipment; Bose audio and navigation systems will be optional features.
2022 GMC Yukon exterior
On the outside, Denali adds LED headlights and LED taillights, a wide, straight chrome grille, like a four-finger ring, and gold teeth. The AT4 exports a chrome grille in black and matte black, and is equipped with a red front winch hook and a skid plate that operates with a 32-degree Yukon AT4 approach angle to facilitate off-road driving.
The AT4 has four-wheel drive as standard, Goodyear A / T tires on 20-inch wheels, heated seats and heated steering wheels. Compared to the released version, the new 2022 GMC Yukon has a length of approximately six inches and a wheelbase that is three inches longer. The biggest change is for third row drivers who get approximately 35 inches of legroom, and over 10 inches in the previous version.
2022 GMC Yukon loads also apply, with all three rows of seats in place, the Yukon has 25.5 cubic feet of tooth or 122.9 cubic feet with storage for the second and third rows. The Yukon XL is also bigger. It rises above the 4-inch wheelbase and third-row passengers get nearly 37 inches of legroom. With the second and third rows in place, the Yukon XL has 41.1 cubic feet of cargo or 144.7 cubic feet of off-road rows.
2022 GMC Yukon engine
Like the latest generation 2022 GMC Yukon, it will be equipped with two V-8 engines: 355 HP 5.3L and 420 HP 6.2L. In addition to the gasoline combustion engine, GMC will also offer a 3.0-liter inline-turbo diesel engine that produces 460 lb-ft of torque and should be an option for buyers looking to tow heavy objects.

All models are equipped with a 10-speed automatic transmission that works with a pressure plate on the dashboard and will provide rear wheel drive or everything. The AT4 off-road model debuted in 2022 and featured a two-speed transfer case. 20-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, skid plates for the undercarriage, and an optional air suspension system that can provide a ground clearance of up to two inches.
Mechanically similar to the Chevrolet Tahoe and Chevrolet Suburban 2022, the GMC Yukon will be equipped with a choice of two V-8 engines or an optional 3.0-liter diesel turbine. The familiar powertrain: 355-horsepower 5.3-liter V-8, 277-horsepower 3.0-liter turbo diesel and a 6.2-liter V-8 at the top of the stack will come with 420 hp.
Like the introduced model, the SUV is available in a standard configuration or wheelbase length, the latter called the Yukon XL. All engines are mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive is standard, although automatic four-wheel drive would be a popular improvement. The 2022 GMC Yukon rises above a tire that uses an independent four-wheel suspension system for the first time.
The front and rear suspension can be equipped with an optional air suspension, which can raise or lower the SUV by 10 cm to clear complex terrain or extend to ski chalets. GMC’s adaptive dampers are designed to reduce congestion and work in conjunction with all-wheel drive, air suspension and a limited electronic rear differential for a smoother ride.
2022 GMC Yukon MBG
The Environmental Protection Agency estimates that the 2022 GMC Yukon is not very economical, but it is better in town than the model it replaces. Equipped with a smaller 5.3-liter V-8 engine, the Yukons are the most efficient gasoline-powered model and have been rated as a 16 mpg city and 20 mpg highway and 18 mpg city.
The turbocharged diesel engine will likely give better estimates, but the numbers have not been released. We haven’t had a chance to put the new Yukon to a 200-mile highway fuel economy test, but we’ll update that story with results when we do.

2022 GMC Yukon Price
While the tough and messy AT4, its rugged looks, off-road gear, the luxurious Denali and the hand-stitched leather interior look more appealing, the SLT is truly complete and affordable.
This mid-range model comes with features sought after by most buyers, including leather seats, heated and ventilated front seats, 20-inch wheels, power tailgate and a host of driver assistance systems.
Prices for the new off-road Yukon AT4 start at $ 66,095. The larger Yukon is available exclusively with all-wheel drive, and is equipped with 20-inch off-road tires, two-wheel drive gears, unique interior fittings, and an additional two inches of maximum ground clearance with available air suspension. If you want the nifty Denali version, like about 60 percent of buyers of the latest-generation Yukon, expect to pay at least $ 69,695.
This comes to $ 700 over the previous issue, which is an overlooked amount. Likewise, Yukon XL Denali is only $ 600 higher for the New Year. Denali has been upgraded from the Yukon 5.3L V8 to the 420hp 6.2L V8. Denali now features an exclusive ultra-luxurious interior with real wood finishes and hand-stitched leather surfaces.
