Now the 2022 Lincoln MKZ can also be replaced. According to the latest reports, the Zephyr 2022 will replace the popular sedan. One of the most prominent features of the new model is the CD6 platform that comes with rear wheel drive.

The hybrid powertrain is the most likely outcome for the MKZ. The new MKZ (or Zephyr) will be available in coupe design. First of all, Zephyr will likely appear as a draft in the coming months. This means that the 2020 FMD will be on offer. But 2022 will be the year of the end of the foot and mouth disease.

2022 Lincoln MKZ Exterior redesign

Lincoln said the entire line of cars would eventually switch from alphanumeric characters to real names. The MKC has already been replaced by the Corsair model. Now 2022 Lincoln MKZ will already arrive as a Lincoln Zephyr. It would be fun to see the new exterior design. Lincoln managed to break away from his design language and introduce something new.

Of course, most of the design features will be comparable to the current MKZ model. The design looks premium and very subtle. Don’t expect an overly aggressive or athletic approach. Why Zephyr?

FMD will not be the first model to be renamed. Lincoln Nautilus was started under the name MKX. The Continental is another model that has replaced the “MK” series. Lincoln will scrape all MK vehicles. Instead, the new model comes with its real name. This means that the alphanumeric names have completely disappeared.

The Zephyr is the latest model to replace the 2022 Lincoln MKZ sedan. Zephyr is the old school company vehicle, so the name isn’t new. Lincoln did something similar with Ford‘s Corsair. Exhalation is actually a slow wind. It makes more sense and the new name will reduce customer confusion.

2022 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid engine and CVT transmission

The all-new 2022 Lincoln MKZ will run on the CD6 platform. The same architecture supports upcoming models like Mustang, Explorer and Aviator. The CD6 platform comes with a hybrid drive. Interestingly, the Explorer ST works on the same base. This model is powered by the 3.0L EcoBoost V6 engine. The new MKZ doesn’t offer as much power as the Explorer ST. The 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine is the most likely candidate. This unit comes with a turbocharger and CVT transmission.

According to the latest reports, the new FMD will house nearly 400 hp. The CVT transmission is included as standard. We’ve of course already mentioned a standard setup with rear-wheel drive. As for the hybrid model, the same four-cylinder engine will be paired to the electric motor. Although the new MKZ Hybrid delivers just under 200 hp, the mileage will be impressive. Fuel economy can go from 21 mpg city to 41 mpg city.

2022 Lincoln MKZ price and release date

The 2022 Lincoln MKZ is undergoing serious changes. It arrives under the name Zephyr. This sedan will likely arrive in a coupe.

A hybrid powertrain will be available and the MKZ will switch to rear-wheel drive. The price will definitely go up. The new model will cost around $ 40,000 and arrive later in 2020.
