2022 Mercedes-Benz GLS Full Review, Design, Engine
The all-new third generation of this luxury SUV will be released next year as the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLS. In recent years, it seems that German automakers have been working hard in recent years on updating their crossover lineup. As you likely know, BMW is currently working on a new generation X5 and all-new X7 models, while Audi is on the verge of introducing an all-new Q8.
On the one hand, Mercedes-Benz is modernizing the mid and large segments, completely redesigning the GLE and GLS. The latter is about to continue to represent this popular manufacturer in the full-size SUV category. It will contain many novelties including a new platform, new engines, new design, and much more. The new model has already been spotted on the road and many are expecting to see it in the market soon, possibly as early as next year.
2022 Mercedes-Benz GLS engines
The current generation comes with three engines on offer. There is one V6 unit, with a capacity of 3.0 liters. It delivers around 360 hp. There are two V8 units, with a maximum power of 450 and 577 hp for the AMG version. When it comes to a next-generation model, some of these engines will likely pass. On the other hand, there is the new 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, which will replace the old 5.5-liter AMG version. The new engine will be more efficient, but it will also have more power, which will reach more than 600 hp. Outside North America, this luxury full-size SUV will also be available in a diesel version. There are six known inline units, which come in two variants, with either 280 or 340 hp. All versions should feature the company’s new nine-speed automatic transmission.
2022 Mercedes-Benz GLS redesign
This review is about to bring many novelties. The Next Generation is about to adopt a new corporate architecture that will deliver benefits in terms of size and weight. The 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLS will be slightly larger, but the new platform will offer huge weight savings, perhaps around 200-300 pounds. This has a very positive effect on driving dynamics so expect a better driving experience this time. In terms of design, we’ll see the brand’s latest design language.
The new model is already under implementation, in the testing phase. Completely camouflaged, we can notice that it has a similar shape to the previous model. The overall surround may be the same, but a completely new front fascia is coming, including a new pair of headlights, a revised grille, and many other new details.
2022 Mercedes-Benz GLS Interior
Another aspect where we expect big changes. The 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLS is about to have an entirely new cabin design. Compared to the current model, it will be expanded in several ways. However, the quality of the materials will be better. Second, expect to see an entirely new dashboard layout. It will likely emulate the company’s flagship S-Class. This could mean a more elegant look, necessitating a more elegant style, with lots of horizontal lines. The list of standard equipment has been expanded. We can’t say anything specific, but we do rely on similar cutting-level organization. It still depends on the choice of the engine.
2022 Mercedes-Benz GLS AMG
In addition to the standard models, we expect a new high-performance AMG version. As we said, a new engine is coming. It is a new 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, which will replace the old 5.5-liter engine. In terms of efficiency, we will see a huge improvement. The new engine will be more powerful and more economical. The latest reports place a maximum output of over 600 hp. New engine, we will see many other upgrades. Of course a lot of it will be mechanical and will include things like new suspension, brakes, etc. Expect to see lots of design improvements. We’ll see several bodies that make this SUV look even sportier. Expect many recognizable details from the AMG on the inside, just like other models from the well-known manufacturer.
2022 Mercedes-Benz GLS Release date and Price
2022 is nearing the arrival of the next-generation Mercedes-Benz GLS. The new model will arrive sometime next year, possibly in the first half. When it comes to price, the current model ranges from $ 70,000 to $ 125,000. The new generation should not be much different. When it comes to competition, some of the main players in the class are models like the Toyota Land Cruiser, Lincoln Navigator, Range Rover, Lexus LX, etc.
