2022 Nissan Armada Full Review, Design, Engine
The 2022 Nissan Armada will be the largest SUV in the lineup. According to the announcements, the new generation will be released next season. Some spy photos actually confirm these details, but only in the shape of a Patrol SUV. This is the non-American version of the super car. The company said there will be huge news in 2022. Therefore, most of the models are unchanged for the current season. The company stops before the storm.
All the leading car sources claiming that the Patrol spy photos are a preview of the 2022 Nissan Armada. That’s an easy guess, but we still can’t tell much about the large hoods on the body. Well, camouflage will decrease in 2020 and even then we have to rely on other sources. The upgrade includes a new front fascia and possibly a lighter body. It will improve fuel economy and maneuverability. However, don’t expect much from the Armada if it doesn’t get a hybrid configuration.
2022 Nissan Armada engine remains the same
There is no doubt that the 2022 Nissan Armada will continue to use a large V8. It is a 5.6-liter unit capable of producing 400 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque. It’s more than what a Toyota Land Cruiser or Sequoia could do with its 5.7-liter engine. But Nissan’s competitor is considering replacing it with a more efficient system. However, we don’t have rumors of Nissan going after a twin-turbo V6 or any other powerful power source.
We think the automaker is also working on the new transmission. The seven-speed gearbox is not as smooth as the competition offers. The ultimate goal is to improve fuel economy. Currently, Armada delivers moderate gas mileage. Rear wheel drive is standard and comes with 14/19 mpg. All-wheel drive is optional and reduces fuel consumption by one kilometer.
There is no diesel option for the 2022 Nissan Armada
The Nissan Titan is the other model with a 5.6 liter engine. The bigger version, the Titan XD, offered another option: a diesel engine. With 335 horsepower and 555 lb-ft of torque, it was a powerful engine with great potential. For a long time we expected a displacement of 5.0 liters on the large SUV, but this never happened. Now the truck has ditched the V8 turbocharged diesel engine, which also means it will not be available for the 2022 Nissan Armada.
What is responsible at this point?
The new Patrol is official. The company will likely use similar tactics for its larger SUV. The Infiniti QX80 premium platform launched a few years ago. Be sure to see pieces from the Monograph concept on the new 2022 Nissan Armada. These are just minor upgrades, while most SUVs will be brand new and use unmarked details.
The company is also developing a new infotainment system, as well as autonomous driving. Level 4 is a far fetched story and we don’t think it will be available in 2022. It took years of development and Nissan did not achieve Level 2. On the one hand, ProPilot is one of the most advanced systems with self-driving functions and driver assistance systems.
2022 Nissan Armada hybrid rumors
Nissan will build more hybrid cars in the future. With the Monograph concept, they could do just that with one of the biggest SUVs: the Infiniti QX80. This does not mean that the vehicle manufacturer will build an environmentally friendly power supply so quickly. This is a big project and it looks incredible at the moment. The electrification of such a huge motive power is not that easy, but the Japanese company and its engineers should not be underestimated. Well, there’s a lot of work that led to the release, but when that happens, Nissan will have the upper hand in the market.
2022 Nissan Armada Autonomous driving
Another official word from the company is that their cars will soon have a higher level of autonomy. At the moment we have ProPilot. The new system improves autonomous driving functions. In the future, the 2022 Nissan Armada can drive on the highway, keep its distance from surrounding cars, and will be able to maintain the lane direction. If the rumors come true, Level 4 will result in automatic parking and minimal driver intervention, even in urban conditions.
2022 Nissan Armada release date and price
Far off, we know the Patrol is undergoing a major redesign. There is no official confirmation about the 2022 Nissan Armada. This is not necessary, as the two SUVs are closely related and the automaker released the latest version at the same time. The price of the full-size model starts at $ 50,000. Even with a small bump, the MSRP will be less than the competition, like the Ford Expedition, Chevy Tahoe, or Toyota Sequoia.
