2022 Volvo XC40 Full Review

The 2022 Volvo XC40 redesign is unlike any other luxury brand. When the Swedish carmaker wanted to make cars faster, it didn’t add more cylinders or just extra turbochargers. Volvo is finding smarter ways to improve performance. Take the 2022 Volvo XC40 as an excellent example.

This luxurious and elegant crossover competes with the Audi Q5, BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC. The competition is fierce, of course. And unlike those cars, which offer twin-six and eight-cylinder turbo engines, you can only get the 2022 Volvo XC40 with a small 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. But this is not the end of the story.

The most powerful 2022 Volvo XC40 T8 uses a turbocharger, supercharging and a built-in hybrid powertrain to deliver 400 hp and 472 lb-ft. For even more excitement, Volvo‘s Polestar tuning section has increased power to 415 hp and 494 lb-ft of torque.

While not at par with the performance of crossovers like the X3 M and GLC63, the Polestar Engineered XC40 delivers an entirely unique look in express luxury. The Polestar Engineered XC40 aims to be less open and urban than its German counterparts, a trick that can be performed just as easily as the Volvo XC40 Polestar 2022.

2022 Volvo XC40

Sitting between the smaller Volvo XC90 and the 2022 Volvo XC40, the 2022 Volvo XC40 boasts the elegance, larger SUV class and the slim look of its younger brother. A panoramic roof is included with the base model and all moldings feature LED headlights in the signature Hammer Thor design. Each piece features a unique grille, with body-colored mirrors on Momentum and Inscription and black hoods added to R-Design and Polestar Engineered. The latter also gets dual integrated exhausts and a touch of gold paint on the brake calipers.

All cars have fog lights on the air intakes, LED taillights and an electric tailgate. The Momentum comes with 18-inch wheels, mid-range models get 19-inch items, and Polestar Engineered rides on a 21-inch or 22-inch Y-look.

2022 Volvo XC40 Dimensions

In terms of dimensions, the 2022 Volvo XC40 Hybrid shares its dimensions with its gasoline-powered sister, with an overall length of 184.6 inches, a width of 83.3 inches (74.9 with mirrors folded) and a height of 65, 3 inches. The sport tire is mounted on a 112.8-inch wheelbase and provides an 8.5-inch ground clearance. When the Hybrid departs from the base, it weighs between 4,704 lbs and 4,749 lbs – about 700 lbs more than the base T5 sibling, and about 470 lbs more than the comparable T6.

2022 Volvo XC40 color

The color palette of the latest 2022 generation of Volvo XC40 rumors is far from the most exciting. Ice White is the only standard color available, while the other adds $ 645 to the price tag. Mostly monochrome colors, including osmium metallic gray, pine metallic gray, metallic denim blue, metallic black, metallic crystal white and shiny silver.

The Fusion Red Metallic is the only bold choice in the base Momentum, while the R-Design Bursting Blue Metallic option opens. Surprisingly, Polestar Engineered sport upholstery is only available in various shades of black, white, gray and silver. Bursting Blue Metallic is our easily preferred choice here, although Volvo‘s simple design matches well even with the dull color.

2022 Volvo XC40 Hybrid

Regarding the engine, the 2022 Volvo XC40 Hybrid is equipped with the eAWD T8 engine, which consists of a 2.0-liter turbocharged and supercharged four-cylinder engine, combined with an electric motor – total power of 400 hp and 472 lb-ft of torque.

However, the Polestar Engineered model gets a bit of TLC from Polestar’s in-house performance team, making it 415 hp and 494 lb-ft. The four-cylinder Volvo XC40 2022 still doesn’t feel like a control, but Polestar seems to have convinced it to look a little more enthusiastic. All this is combined with an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the front wheels. Then the electric motor sends power to the rear wheels, creating the “eAWD” system.

The 2022 Volvo XC40 is the fastest powertrain in the XC40 Series Hybrid, with a time ranging from 0 to 60 mph, and is even more impressive in the Polestar look, with the manufacturer claiming a record-breaking 4.8-second race. It doesn’t hold you back to the seat, but the instant torque from the electric motor makes the 2022 Volvo XC40 Concept gain speed easily regardless of which gear you’re in or how fast you’re going.

The shift of the eight-speed gearbox is almost imperceptible due to the electric motor between the engine and the transmission. As long as you have a load, the electric motor can handle slow, tedious things so the machine can contribute once it reaches cruising speed. In the event it runs out of power, the XC40 performs like the regular hybrid, turning off the engine when stopped and using the electric motor to mitigate when it stops / starts. The XC40 T8 can also tow up to £ 3,500.

2022 Volvo XC40 inside

The interior design of each 2022 Volvo XC40 Refresh is highlighted, and even more so with a new twist on the cabin of the 2022 Volvo XC40 This is an area where Volvo cars compete with more distinct competitors, using luxurious natural materials, luxurious design and logical design. comfortable.

The cabin is also very padded to isolate occupants from road noise, and there is plenty of room for four – or five if you have smaller passengers in the rear center seat won’t be bothered by a slightly tricky central tunnel at a cost.

All seats have supportive leather base up cushioning, with ergonomic cushioning, firm lumbar support and front heating. The Polestar Engineered model gets a gold seat belt with black Nappa leather sport seats to set it apart from the crowd.

2022 Volvo XC40 infotainment

As with the gas-only 2022 Volvo XC40 series, there is a 9-inch touchscreen on the dashboard with Sensus Connect infotainment system. The portrait display is reminiscent of smartphone screens, and while the system takes a while to get the hang of it, once you have the skills to do so, it works pretty smoothly. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, HD Radio, SiriusXM, and Bluetooth come directly from the base model, which also features a powerful ten-speaker audio system.

This is directed at Harman Kardon audio setup on R-Design and Inscription, with navigation system and 14 speakers. One step higher takes you to the Bowers & Wilkins audio system consisting of 15 Polestar Engineered speakers, which is also optional at the bottom edge – with the amazing Gothenburg Concert Hall setting we had on the non-hybrid XC40 earlier this year test car, that’s something. is a must.
