2023 Acura ILX Full Review New

The 2023 Acura ILX will no longer be Acura‘s entry-level sedan. Worry not, as the 2023 Integra will soon fill the void left by this vehicle. As everyone anticipated, Acura is returning to its 1990s roots, with the Integra serving as its entry-level vehicle.

The Acura ILX made its debut in 2013 as the smallest sedan of the brand. It was based on the Civic platform at the time, but it offered luxury buyers on a budget a more upscale appearance and feel than its corporate cousin. However, nearly a decade later, it has become extinct, like the dodo bird.

The Acura ILX was never a particularly popular vehicle.

Although the Acura ILX offered a cost-effective entry point into the luxury vehicle market, it was never a huge success. In fact, according to Good Car Bad Car, Acura could sell no more than 20,000 ILXs annually between 2014 and 2021. Lexus, on the other hand, was able to sell more than twice as many IS sedans, the ILX’s main competitor, during that time period.

As the ILX was based on the ninth-generation Civic, the car’s older technology could be to blame. In fact, the current 2021 model retains the 2.4-liter engine from the ninth-generation Civic Si rather than the turbocharged engine found in the current Civic. Considering that the Civic is currently in its 11th generation, it is evident that the ILX had some ground to make up.

The ILX still employs Acura‘s older navigation system and dashboard design, as well as a dual-screen infotainment system with older navigation and dashboard screens. In 2015, it appeared cool, but in 2022, it simply won’t work. It used to be available with a six-speed manual transmission, but Acura has since discontinued that option.

The Acura Integra may be a breath of fresh air

It may take some time for the general public to warm up to the brand-new Integra. We have only seen it in its prototype form, which was painted yellow and adorned with tacky “Integra” decals. But let’s give it a chance, because it may be better than we all believe.

So far as we are aware, the Integra will feature the same turbocharged 1.5-liter engine as the current Civic, so it is at least current in this regard. Acura has not disclosed whether the engine will have the same output as the standard 2022 Civic or the new Civic Si. We hope the latter, especially since this entry-level sedan will offer a six-speed manual transmission as an option.

Currently, we will raise a glass to the ILX. It was a good sedan while it lasted and could be a good deal in the future on the used market. Acura ILX, you’ve been wonderful.

Redesign

The exterior design of the 2023 Acura ILX is attractive yet compact. But for 2023, this model will be a company, sharing many elements with the popular Honda Civic. The ILX has a very attractive front end thanks to the diamond grille and the very attractive LED headlights.

Speaking of which, the same design language can be seen in other Acura models, including SUVs. A-Spec treatments are the best for the money. This model transforms this vehicle into a sportier look thanks to the black mesh grille and gray alloy wheels. The Type S model should also be available and would be more attractive.

Interior upgrades

The cab of the 2023 Acura ILX is modern and spacious. Overall, this car has plenty of room for the driver and front seat passenger, but it’s still cramped for those in the back. Moreover, everything inside is luxurious and there is enough standard equipment inside. Inside, you’ll find a sunroof and heated sport seats with electric driver tuning and automatic two-zone climate control.

Surprisingly, for the 2023 Acura ILX, the manufacturer has updated the infotainment system with an 8.0-inch touchscreen, with better graphics. As before, the infotainment system supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. In terms of safety, the latest version of the ILX has a suite of standard driver assistance technologies. They include adaptive cruise control, collision warning and automatic emergency braking, lane warning and lane assist, and blind spot monitoring.

2023 Acura ILX Engine Specifications

Under the hood, the 2023 Acura ILX uses a four-cylinder engine that produces 201 horsepower. The engine spins easily and the ILX comes with front-wheel drive mated to a smooth eight-speed automatic transmission. The current ILX achieves a fuel economy of 24 mpg city and 34 mpg highway.

Compared to competitors such as the A3 and A-Class, the ILX is a more competitive car. There is also a rumor about a hybrid variant, but the manufacturer has remained silent so far.

2023 Acura ILX Price, Release Date

The highly anticipated 2023 Acura ILX luxury sedan will hit the market this year without major changes. As mentioned, the upcoming model is based on the all-new Honda Civic, both of which share many elements. As before, ILX is available in four different versions.
You can get a base model for $28,000, a Premium model for $29,500, or a Premium A-Spec for $31,500. Peak Supply is a tech-spec model that starts at $33,500. On the other hand, you can get the lower end as an optional Premium package, which adds leather trim, enhanced entertainment features, and more.

2023 Acura TLX Type S

The 2023 Acura TLX Type S is the new sedan that will continue its fight for the throne with models such as the Audi S4 and BMW M340i. For 2023, this model will see some improvements, but don’t expect anything significant about the current generation.

As we assume, the manufacturer will launch this high-performance vehicle alongside the regular model sometime next year. Acura says only 2,000 copies will be made, so now’s your chance to get one. This model is powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine with 355 horsepower. The engine will use a 10-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. That’s all we know so far.

2023 Acura TLX Type S

The new 2023 Acura TLX Type S is one of the premium performance sedans on the market that looks more aggressive than its competitors. This model comes with a longer axle ratio dashboard and is recognizable by its long hood and short deck.

Unlike the previous model, the new Acura TLX Type S has a sharper, more angular shape. We immediately noticed that his nose is more indicative and many external signatures can be distinguished. We love its open-cut diamond grille for improved airflow, large quad exhausts, and the manufacturer offers two-wheeled options. Most preferred is the NSX-inspired lightweight wheel wrapped in a Pirelli P-Zero 255 summer tire.

2023 Acura TLX Type S Sporty cabin

The interior of the 2023 Acura TLX Type S is extremely luxurious and expressive. This sedan emphasizes its sporty character with fine cabin materials, such as open-pore wood and very sporty seats. Overall, it’s more compact than some competitors in the class.

Unlike the regular model, the Type S variant comes with many convenient features that provide excellent driver support. Inside, you’ll find a 10.5-inch vertical screen, customizable mood lighting, and adjustable front seats. As far as is known, the manufacturer will also offer various interior colors and desirable features such as leather upholstery.

2023 Acura TLX Type S Engine Specifications

The same engine will power the 2023 Acura TLX Type S as a regular model. This performance version will use (if we can call it that) a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine producing 355 horsepower.

This engine uses a 10-speed automatic transmission and is equipped with all-wheel drive as standard. Its rival, the Audi S4, comes with a turbocharged V-6 that produces 349 hp, while the BMW M340i uses an inline-six turbo that produces 382 hp. As you can see, the Acura TLX Type S is more powerful than the Audi, but a far cry from the BMW model.

2023 Acura TLX Type S Release date

The new 2023 Acura TLX Type S will hit dealers sometime next year, with some light upgrades. This model should look more aggressive and we also expect more sportiness on the inside.

According to Acura, this sedan will only be available in 2,000 units. The competition is fierce and we can expect a big battle between the Model S and models such as the Audi S4 and BMW M340i.
