2023 GMC Yukon, Denali, AT4, XL Full Review New

Until the arrival of the Hummer EV, GMC‘s flagship SUV is the 2023 GMC Yukon. The Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban are closely related to the GMC Yukon and Yukon XL, which are upscale three-row haulers with a price to match. The most expensive of the lineup is the new Denali Ultimate trim, which excels in both technological and material splendor.

Overwiew

The GMC division of General Motors is best known for its commercial vehicles and work trucks, but the 2023 GMC Yukon is one of the most accommodating and luxurious passenger vehicles in the history of the brand. This large family SUV features three rows of spacious seating and is available with a longer wheelbase called Yukon XL, which provides even more cargo space.

The majority of models are powered by either a 5.3- or 6.2-liter V-8, but a turbo-diesel 3.0-liter inline-six is also available, a segment first. All available engines have strong towing capacity and acceleration, but the V-8s are not particularly fuel efficient. The base SLE trim comes standard with a variety of convenience and technology features, but the upscale Denali trims spruce things up to compete with luxury competitors like the Cadillac Escalade and Lincoln Navigator. The Yukon’s greatest competitor, however, is Chevrolet‘s Tahoe and Suburban SUVs, which are mechanically identical and offer comparable features at a slightly lower price.

2023 GMC Yukon Exterior

In 2023, a new Denali Ultimate trim level will be added to the Yukon lineup, featuring, among other amenities, Alpine Umber leather interior, 16-way power-adjustable front seats with massage, open pore wood trim, and an 18-speaker Bose stereo system. The Denali Ultimate has unique 22-inch wheels and darkened chrome trim on the grille and other exterior panels. The hands-free highway driving mode Super Cruise by GM is available as an option.

While the rough-and-tumble AT4 with its rugged looks and off-road equipment and the luxurious Denali with its hand-stitched leather interior appear to be the most enticing, the well-equipped and more affordable SLT is the one to choose. This model’s standard equipment includes leather upholstery, front seats that are heated and cooled, 20-inch wheels, a power liftgate, and driver assistance features.

2023 GMC Yukon Powertrain, Engine, and Performance

Similar to the previous generation Yukon, two V-8 engines are available: a 5.3-liter with 355 horsepower and a 6.2-liter with 420 horsepower. In addition to these gasoline-powered engines, GMC also offers a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel inline-six that generates 460 pound-feet of torque and is the engine of choice for those who plan to tow heavy loads. All models are equipped with either rear- or all-wheel drive and a 10-speed automatic transmission with dashboard-mounted shift buttons.

Also available is the off-road-oriented AT4 model, which features a two-speed transfer case, 20-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, underbody skid plates, and an optional air suspension that can provide up to two additional inches of ground clearance. When we tested a fully-loaded Denali with the 6.2-liter V-8, we recorded a zero-to-60-mph time of 6.0 seconds and noted significantly improved braking performance compared to the previous generation.

Option

Those looking to save money at the pump should consider the 3.0-liter turbodiesel, which achieves 21/27 mpg for front-wheel drive models. With 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, the turbodiesel is also the best option for towing (8,100 pounds).

The upgrade option is a 6.2-liter V-8 engine with 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. The 0-60 time is reduced to 6.1 seconds, and the fuel economy drops to 14/20 mpg (or 14/19 mpg with all-wheel drive). This engine is exclusive to the AT4 and Denali trims.

Energy Efficiency and Real-World MPG

The 2023 GMC Yukon is not especially fuel-efficient, but it performs marginally better in the city than the previous generation. Yukons equipped with the smaller 5.3-liter V-8 are the most fuel-efficient gasoline-powered models, achieving 16 city, 20 highway, and 18 combined miles per gallon.

The turbo-diesel engine is predictably more fuel-efficient, achieving up to 21 city mpg and 27 highway mpg. On our highway fuel economy test route at 75 miles per hour, our Denali test vehicle achieved 20 mpg. To learn more about the Yukon’s fuel economy, please visit the EPA’s website.

2023 GMC Yukon Cargo, Comfort, and Interior

The Yukon and long-wheelbase Yukon XL offer seating for up to eight passengers, with the exception of the popular second-row captain’s chairs, which reduce the total seating capacity to seven. Denali models feature a distinctive interior design with a wood-trimmed dashboard and leather upholstery that is hand-stitched. A novel power-sliding center console is optional on the SLT and AT4 and standard on the Denali.

It enables the driver to move the console back and forth on a 10-inch track to make room for bulkier first-row cargo such as a purse or backpack and to stow smaller items in hidden cubbies. Especially in the larger XL model, which offers a whopping 145 cubic feet of maximum cargo space when all seats are folded down, cargo space is abundant. This is greater than its cross-town competitor, the Ford Expedition Max (which has 122 cubic feet behind its front row of seats). Behind the standard-length Yukon’s third-row seats was sufficient space for six carry-on bags. With the third and second rows stowed, we can accommodate 35 passengers.

Informational Entertainment and Connectivity

All Yukon models feature a large infotainment display with GMC‘s most recent infotainment interface; we found the system to be intuitive. SLE, SLT, and AT4 models feature a display that stands tall in the center of the dashboard, whereas the Denali’s display is surrounded by bright chrome and embedded in the dashboard for a more sophisticated appearance. Standard features include Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration and a Wi-Fi hotspot; navigation and a Bose audio system are optional.

What is The Ultimate Denali?

American luxury SUVs are experiencing a revival. GMC‘s luxurious Denali trims have proven to be popular in their truck lineup, and the new Yukon Denali Ultimate competes with luxury titans such as the Cadillac Escalade, Lincoln Navigator, and Jeep Grand Wagoneer.

This year’s Yukon Denali Ultimate competes for the attention of luxury purchasers with its exquisite top-grain leather, intricate contrast stitching, and open-pore wood. The back of the ventilated, power-massaging seats are laser-etched with a topographical map of Mount Denali. The exterior successfully combines bright and dark chrome. The Denali Ultimate also includes Super Cruise, which enables hands-free highway driving.

The Yukon Denali Ultimate’s starting MSRP is anticipated to remain below six figures, making it a compelling alternative to the top-trim Escalade and Navigator.

Recommend Trimmings

Although the Yukon SLE and SLT trims are adequately equipped, they lack the luxury features of a Chevrolet Tahoe that is similarly equipped. Denali and the new Denali Ultimate are the trims that achieve the Yukon’s luxury mission the best. The Yukon Denali is a compelling alternative to the Escalade, thanks to its upgraded interior and striking exterior design.

The other trim we recommend is the off-road-capable AT4. Although it lacks the capability of a Wrangler, the Yukon AT4 is remarkably fearless off-road and performs admirably on the highway. The package was sufficient to earn Four Wheeler’s 2021 SUV of the Year award. As a luxury cruiser that can go anywhere, it is near the top of our list.

2023 GMC Yukon Denali

General Motors Denali is one of the most prolific trims in the American auto market. Launched in 1999 for your massive GMC SUV, the Luxury Line has always been the most popular version. The fifth-generation Yukon Denali overrides some of its previous income statements. Similar to the beloved Sierra truck, the SUV is in top shape.

Since the Denali is definitely the best build feature and luxuries GMC has to offer in terms of their vehicle, there are no other parts you might want to check out. If you have the money to invest, Yukon Denali is an ideal way to do so.

Denali Redesign
Exterior

Using a satin chrome multi-dimensional grille and block-type elements, the front fascia is truly a highly reflective and caring look. The hood and upper bumper feature muscular detailing and numerous chrome accessories to show off its aggressive and competitive character. The LED and DRL headlights maintain their traditional styling but have a very modular Denali crossover design. Each of these parts goes very well.

The side view is probably made even more appealing with a pair of 4″ 20″ aluminum rims, 6 multi-spoke spokes and a moderately shaped line that starts at the top close of your headlight to meet halfway through the taillight. To improve your online wheel game, GMC 5 offers various variants in 22 inch wheels.

Other decors include a GMC fender decal, Denali badges in the lower section of the doors, lots of silk chrome around Microsoft windows, and reduced entryway moldings for your SUV. The rear looks quite simple, along with the taillight hood extending slightly around the top of the trunk, Yukon and Denali badges have been moved lower, and the well-raised bumper at the rear helps make the SUV look wider than ever.

2023 GMC Yukon Denali interior

GMC is known for its luxury, particularly the Denali clip-on and with the all-new Yukon, they’ve given up on that again. With that in mind, the high quality of the cabin is very impressive and furnished with acceptable but luxurious basics. The 2023 GMC Yukon Denali will have a matching interior that, along with the upper part of the dashboard, is trimmed with soft, luxurious leather materials.

The center console and the entrance solar panels have wood veneer, while the metallic interpretation can be observed. 50% of the lower cab is made of medium quality plastic and the four darker colors of the interior trims may look dull but match the opulence. In terms of seating, the Yukon is a lively 3-row SUV that offers top-of-the-line seating for up to eight adults.

2023 GMC Yukon Denali trim brings perforated leather trim to all car seats, and the front row offers very good comfort while passengers enjoy the 12-way power seats. Front car seats offer comfort functions required as standard, such as heating, air flow and memory space. The middle row comes with some sort of well-padded and heated bucket seat as usual or perhaps there is also a 60/40 split fold easily available that can be pulled down and done electrically using the trunk area controls. Your third row has a 60/40 counter similar to a regular counter and operates in the same way as the optional second row table seats.

2023 GMC Yukon Denali engine

With a new generation just being imposed, GMC made the decision to run its big SUV with the same leader long ago. The naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 that drove these big cars from General Motors is a regular feature of the new 2023 GMC Yukon Denali. With 420 Hewlett packard of power and 460 pound-feet of torque, an easy and comfortable 10-speed intelligent transmission pairs with the engine. The most powerful option is the Duramax’s 3.0-liter diesel engine that produces 277 Hewlett-pack power and 460 lb-ft of torque.

There is a choice between the pressure of the rear tires or multiple tires. The first provides a steady speed and will save a lot of gas, while the second equips the Yukon with a two-speed Autotrac control box for off-road driving and makes it a little better. Speaking of capacities, the RWD version has optimum towing and payload capacities of 8200 lbs and 2044 lbs respectively, although those numbers are a minimum of 8000 lbs and 1956 lbs for your 4WD design. With a number of wheel generation settings, it takes just 6 seconds to increase the Yukon Denali from being motionless to 60ml per hour. A quarter of the distance is clocked in just 14 and a half seconds and the best speed is 120 mph.

2023 GMC Yukon Denali Price and Release Date

2023 GMC Yukon AT4

The GMC Yukon has booming revenues within the full-size segment and is probably the most desirable V8 family SUV available, at least in the United States. The AT4 is definitely an off-road-oriented version of the lineup, set up especially by the production line to cater to those eager to explore the outback. With the recent design calendar year approaching, there is already speculation about what to expect about the 2023 GMC Yukon AT4 outbound. Since the SUV has undergone major technical and design overhauls over the past season, we expect the changes to become evolutionary as an alternative to the newer.

The AT4 includes trim in the Yukon lineup this 2023 product season. That leaves only one trim option. However, with this year’s release, you get two engine replacements: one a 5.3L V8 and one an additional new 6.2L V8. A 10-speed automatic transmission and AWD configuration are standard on the model. Once we recommend the 1, we’ll likely agree with the stock V8 because it packs a lot of punch on many other occasions, and the choice of larger displacement has a huge impact on the power-economy system for overall minimal real-world performance gain.

Redesign
Exterior

The exterior appearance of your 2023 GMC Yukon AT4 looks solid and attractive. The SUV has a strong, assertive physical appearance using a wide personal grille with GMC advertising in the front. The sleek, sporty headlights look good with all the thicker grille. The SUV’s edges are smooth and flowing to the rear. The taillights appear to be very small, oblong, and rarely protrude from the rear. Ground clearance is great and can be adjusted up to about 2 inches in line with requirements. It makes sense that a 4×4 capable of off-road driving with massive 20-inch wheels and black-wall tires would be suitable for all seasons. However, the optional planned sunroof became standard for this year’s design.

In terms of body mass, the largest SUV, this is actually the Nissan Armada, which is estimated to be worth about 5,824 pounds. That doesn’t translate to more space, as it’s the smallest SUV in this size comparison. The Yukon AT4’s 121-inch wheelbase plummets down the middle, but the rest of the dimensions are certainly the most important in this comparison. The largest wheelbase of 122.5 helped the vehicle get some legroom, but it falls simply in terms of shoulder joint space.

2023 GMC Yukon AT4 interior

The 2023 GMC Yukon AT4 will be the perfect SUV for families without the crowds normally associated with most cars. With the extra space and practical design, the Yukon is sure to be loved by travelers. It provides the most shoulder and head room in the first and second rows. In the interior, the individual experience is likely to be excellent, thanks to the new 10.2-inch infotainment process that has been improved over the past year. This screen is easy to access and use, and there are plenty of options to keep everyone occupied for a long time. It also appears that all kinds of phone calling features are built into the package.

The colored AT4 can also have exclusive manufacturer’s accents and badges on the inside. 12-way power-adjustable upper seats are standard. Both exterior and entry seats are heated. It even includes a leather steering wheel and perforated natural leather seats. The next row is large and getting to that section again is relatively easy at about 38.2 inches. From legroom to extra legroom. The second row of seats can be lowered electronically at the touch of a button. As usual, cargo space appears to be around 25.5 cubic feet, which is quite large, and is actually one of the Yukon’s main unique selling points.

2023 GMC Yukon AT4 Engine

For 2023 GMC Yukon AT4 will be a regular 5.3L V8. It generates about 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. That engine, combined with the intelligent 15-speed convertible transmission and the regular all-tyre configuration, gives this 5,500-pound machine some serious impact. Thus, the 60 mph arrangement happens in just 7.1 seconds, which can be very impressive for an SUV weighing due to the moon. If that doesn’t satisfy you, GMC will probably offer you the best and worst 6.2-liter V8 engine this year, too. This powerful engine appears to violate the 400 hp code and can manage a few seconds off the -60 shave.

Compared to the competition, the 2023 GMC Yukon AT4 simply slips in terms of full speed numbers. It only managed to overtake the Tahoe, which offers the same engine and weighs more anyway. The Armada, with its powerful V8 engine, is capable of a very impressive run of 6.3 to 2, while the Journey blows the competition aside in 6.2 seconds. The twin-turbo system falls in Ford‘s favour, especially since it increases torque a lot at low revs, although its use is a major drawback when it comes to displacement.

2023 GMC Yukon AT4 price and release date

Go on a crazy ride and expect the updated 2023 GMC Yukon AT4 to hit the dealers out of this trap. With GMC having the majority of its lineup updated with all 2023 Model Sports Utility cars and trucks, it’s only a matter of time for the fixed-release version. Listed as an off-highway vehicle in the Yukon lineup, the Yukon 2023 GMC Yukon AT4 is only available in one self-contained van, and now only with two drivetrain options to choose from. Cost is expected to start at around $67,795 and will compete with the likes of the Chevrolet Tahoe Z71, Ford Expedition and Nissan Armada.
