A sleek interior design features clean lines and a dashboard with a honeycomb-patterned mesh design element that conceals the air vents ingeniously. A wide center console appears less cluttered than the outgoing model’s and features a large, deep bin for smartphones, keys, and snacks in front of the shift lever. The front seats are supportive, and the leather upholstery is permeable, allowing you to stay cool on hot days. Note, however, that the seats lack an adjustable lumbar support, which may be a problem for passengers with sensitive lower backs.
The climate control layout is vastly superior to that of the previous generation, with excellent vent coverage throughout the cabin. At any speed, road noise is perceptible and can be quite intrusive on coarse surfaces. Wind noise is thankfully more subdued, and the rest of the interior has a solid, vibration-free feel.
Cargo
The trunk of the Civic sedan can hold up to 14.8 cubic feet of cargo, which is above average for the class. The space is usable due to the Civic’s minimal wheelwell and trunk hinge intrusion. The rear seats can be folded down to increase cargo space, although the passageway between the trunk and rear seat is not very large.
The previous Civic’s clever interior storage was a feature we particularly appreciated. This new Civic features more conventional storage compartments, which, in our opinion, is a step in the wrong direction.
