The extroverted styling of the 2023 Kia Sportage sets it apart from the crowd of compact crossovers. The face of the Kia is peculiar, with alien-looking headlights and a distinctive grille design. Its bolder bodywork is also dimensionally larger than before, resulting in more cargo space and a more spacious interior. Inside, the new Sportage 2023 is both appealing and loaded with technology, including a large dash-mounted screen. A 187-hp four-cylinder engine, a 226-hp hybrid powertrain, or a more powerful plug-in-hybrid model with an estimated electric range of 34 miles provide motivation. Competition from segment stalwarts like the Mazda CX-5 and Honda CR-V is fierce, but the 2023 Sportage demonstrates that it has more to offer than just a wild-looking exterior.
What Is New in 2023?
The Sportage enters a new generation for the 2023 model year, with hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains now available. The latter feature positions the Kia against plug-in alternatives such as the Hyundai Tucson plug-in hybrid and the Toyota RAV4 Prime.
We recommend the optional hybrid powertrain because it feels more responsive on the road and improves fuel economy. The mid-level EX hybrid appears to offer the best value here, with features like a larger 12.3-inch infotainment screen, wireless smartphone charging, and heated front seats. Some buyers may be interested in the Premium package, which includes a panoramic sunroof, LED interior lighting, and a power liftgate.
Performance, Engine, and Transmission
The Sportage’s standard engine is a 187-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The hybrid model combines a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine with a single electric motor to produce a total of 226 horsepower. Both powertrains are available with front- or all-wheel drive. There’s also an all-wheel-drive-only plug-in hybrid that shares the regular hybrid’s gasoline engine but adds a more powerful electric motor and a larger battery pack. During our initial test drive, we sampled both the base four-cylinder and the hybrid powertrain and were more impressed with the latter. The extra power and low-end push from the hybrid’s electric motor make it feel much more responsive. The plug-in hybrid model accelerated to 60 mph in 6.9 seconds on our test track. The kia 2023 Sportage rides on a new platform with a longer wheelbase, which improves ride comfort. The addition of rugged-looking trims like the X-Line gives the compact ute an off-road vibe, but the X-Pro actually has some off-road equipment. It has a selection of drive modes and rides on black 17-inch rims with all-terrain tires.

Battery Life, Range, and Charging
According to the EPA, the PHEV model can travel 34 miles on electricity alone before needing to use the gasoline engine to keep the kia 2023 Sportage moving. It has the same setup as the Hyundai Tucson plug-in hybrid, with a 13.8-kWh battery pack and 261 combined horsepower.
Real-World MPG and Fuel Economy
When equipped with front-wheel drive, the Sportage with the base 2.5-liter four-cylinder is rated for 25 mpg city and 32 mpg highway; all-wheel drive models are rated for 23 mpg city and 28 mpg highway. The hybrid is rated at 42 mpg in the city and 44 mpg on the highway. The plug-in hybrid model has an EPA rating of 36 mpg city and 35 mpg highway. We can evaluate the new Sportage’s real-world mpg after testing it on our 75-mph fuel-economy route, which is part of our extensive testing regimen. Visit the EPA’s website for more information on the Sportage’s fuel economy.
Cargo, Interior, and Comfort
The Sportage makes an impression on the inside with a slick design highlighted by a large digital display on the dashboard and other eye-catching details. The interior is available in an appealing two-tone color scheme as an option, but an all-black cabin is also available. A rotary shift knob, a push-to-start button, and a slew of other controls blend into the piano-black bezel adorn the center console. The Sportage has more rear-seat legroom and 40 cubic feet of cargo space behind the back seat thanks to larger overall dimensions and a longer wheelbase. A dual-level cargo floor adds even more versatility.
Connectivity and infotainment
On the infotainment front, the Sportage includes desirable features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. All models include an 8.0-inch infotainment display as standard, as well as a digital gauge display. However, we recommend upgrading to the larger infotainment display, which measures 12.3 inches in diameter and offers more connectivity and sharper graphics. Touch-sensitive controls beneath the infotainment interface alternate between the climate system and the stereo. A Harman/Kardon upgrade is available, as well as a wireless phone charger and a Wi-Fi hotspot with a subscription.
Features for Driver Assistance and Safety
The new Sportage comes with a slew of standard and optional driver-assistance features. The list includes features such as navigation-based adaptive cruise control and a remote parking feature similar to Hyundai‘s Smart Park system. Visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites for more information on the Sportage’s crash-test results. The following are important safety features:
Warranty and Maintenance Protection
Kia has one of the best warranty plans available, with the industry’s longest powertrain warranty. It lacks, however, the complimentary maintenance provided by competitors such as Toyota and even its corporate sibling, Hyundai.
2023 KIA Sportage 4 Wheel Drive
The Kia Sportage is now in its fourth development, and it shows no signs of waning in its crusade for the local parking school in the mall and many transit areas. That doesn’t show the Sportage slipping into the competition for the best compact crossover SUV, even if there are minor changes with the new year other than the addition of Nightfall plans. In reality, though, there are a lot of factors to love about this brave Korean, including things we think are one of the best outdoor models in the business, a comfortable and functionally designed interior, and most importantly a slew of elements. Effective methods support basic safety for drivers.
2023 KIA Sportage 4 Wheel Drive : What do you get
Kia still makes some pretty good looking cars these days – check out the Stinger. It looks the same as the previous year’s model, but that’s okay. We love the sharp nose section at the front, and the user profile of the area is a crisp sweep that ends with a perfectly wrapped back end, rounding out the overall package in a short way. The 2023 KIA Sportage 4 Wheel Drive design varies greatly in terms of equipment level.

2023 KIA Sportage 4 Wheel Drive interior
The 2023 KIA Sportage 4 Wheel Drive looks good in terms of interior design and the overall quality of the cabin. KIA has done a lot by doing a lot: no eye-catching plastic rims or awkward plastic surfaces. Preferably you get a reasonable interior that can feel continental and contain many subtle elements. The driver may find that all the main rules are at hand.
While seated, the driver likes to look at the track; On the other hand, we did notice that the dashboard’s high hood can get in the way of more profile, especially for faster drivers. For a compact SUV, the 2023 KIA Sportage 4 Wheel Drive impresses with a wide variety of mainstream interior features, and the SX begins to slide into premium territory.
2023 KIA Sportage 4 Wheel Drive specifications:
The 2023 KIA Sportage 4 Wheel Drive comes with two engine options. The first is a naturally aspirated 2.4-liter inline 4-tube that generates 181 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque, like everyone else except the SX Turbo. Performance with this engine can be defined as satisfactory. Due to the large potential, low torque is offered, but not much, and this becomes more evident when trying to accelerate somewhere between the equipment. A conventional six-speed automatic gearbox will keep track of fewer gears and redirect the revs to shoot to meet the driver’s need for much more speed.
It goes well through town, but not excellent at the beginning of the road. In the 2023 KIA Sportage 4 Wheel Drive, the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine delivers 240 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque, dropping immediately to 237 hp on all-wheel drive models, with maximum torque reaching between 1,450 and 3,500 rpm. round per minute. This motor really likes to drive torque to the tonsils and feels pretty fast for the job. But we don’t worry. Likewise, the engines are mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission that offers fresh, stress-free shift changes, but can get a little crowded when combined with the smaller efficient engine.
2023 KIA Sportage 4 Wheel Drive fuel productivity
If you want the car to be an income performance, excellent fuel economy is the name of the competition. The makers know it, but fall often falls on deaf ears. This is the 2023 KIA Sportage 4 Wheel Drive event. For a component in a lot of trouble, poor fuel economy stats are a major dismay;
So, how much propane will you be primarily using? The 2.4-liter engine in front-wheel drive is the lightest, yet it only manages a fuel economy of 23/30/26 mpg at city/highway/compound intervals, relative to the EPA. Transition to All Wheel Drive (AWD) and lower rates to 21/25/23 mpg. The points get worse if you get a turbo model: In FWD form, you should use 20/28/23 mpg and lighten 19/24/21 mpg in AWD form.
2023 KIA Sportage 4 Wheel Drive Price
The 2023 KIA Sportage 4 Wheel Drive pricing covers a wide range when you consider that every trim amount is often chosen in an FWD or AWD setup. Starting with the lowest-priced base model, the LX can be yours for $23,990 for an MSRP, which excludes income tax, registration, and the site price of $1,120.
