2023 Lincoln Corsair Full Review New

2023 Lincoln Corsair. A Ford Escape is concealed behind the luxury exterior of the 2023 Lincoln Corsair, but a thick veneer of premium materials effectively conceals its middle-class origins. The Corsair’s on-road demeanor and interior design resemble those of its larger and more expensive Lincoln siblings. The most common engine is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, but a plug-in hybrid is also available; however, it requires purchasing the Grand Touring trim level. Lincoln‘s approach to luxury is distinct from European competitors such as the Audi Q5, BMW X3, and Mercedes-Benz GLC-class, and it may not appeal to driving enthusiasts. No matter. It is an upscale package designed to appeal to those who prioritize comfort over driving excitement.

What’s Different in 2023 Lincoln Corsair?

Lincoln‘s smallest SUV is updated for 2023 with a redesigned grille, exterior lighting, and new wheel designs. The plug-in hybrid Grand Touring model receives updated satin metallic exterior trim with blue accents to signify its position at the pinnacle of the Corsair hierarchy. Beginning with a larger 13.2-inch infotainment display and a newly standard 12.3-inch digital gauge display, the Corsair’s cabin also receives a number of enhancements. The center console and the panel housing the Corsair’s climate controls have been redesigned.

Two new interior themes—Smoked Truffle (sounds delectable) and Eternal Red (sounds demonic)—have been added, each with its own set of distinctive trims and upholstery. The more powerful turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine has been eliminated, leaving the 250-hp turbo 2.0-liter and the 266-hp plug-in hybrid as the only available engines.

Reserve trim is the way to go. Lincoln provides several must-have features for the significant price increase, including 19-inch wheels, a hands-free power liftgate, fog lamps, a 14-speaker Revel stereo system, in-dash navigation, SiriusXM satellite radio, a power-adjustable steering column, genuine wood interior trim, and heated front seats upholstered in Bridge of Weir leather with 10-way power adjustability and driver memory settings. From there, we would proceed with caution, as the Corsair’s option packages are quite expensive.

Powertrain, Engine, and Performance

A 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine with 250 horsepower is standard on the Standard and Reserve trim levels of the 2023 Lincoln Corsair. Front-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission are standard; all-wheel drive costs extra. In our testing, a turbocharged four-cylinder Corsair with all-wheel drive reached 60 miles per hour in 6.1 seconds. However, key competitors like the Audi Q5 and Porsche Macan are quicker and more enjoyable to drive. The plug-in hybrid model is equipped with an electric motor, a continuously variable transmission (CVT), and all-wheel drive. On our test track, the PHEV model achieved a zero-to-60-mph time of 7.0 seconds, but the powertrain’s unrefined sounds did not impress us.

Energy Efficiency and Real-World MPG

The front-wheel drive model with the turbo-four engine achieves 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway, while all-wheel drive reduces the city number by 1 mpg. On our 75 mph highway fuel economy test route, a vehicle with all-wheel drive achieved 30 miles per gallon. The EPA estimates that the plug-in hybrid model, which we have not yet tested, will offer up to 28 miles of all-electric range and is rated at 34 city mpg and 32 highway mpg. Visit the EPA website for more information about the Corsair’s fuel economy.

2023 Lincoln Corsair Cargo, Comfort, and Interior

The interior of the 2023 Lincoln Corsair is comparable to that of other Lincoln SUVs, including the Navigator, Nautilus, and Aviator. It is upholstered in supple leather and provides numerous features. Adjustable ambient lighting, 24-way power-adjustable seats, a head-up display, and an app that allows users to unlock, lock, and start the vehicle with their smartphone are all available, but ordering them will incur a hefty premium. There are two unique interior design themes available as options.

The first, Smoked Truffle, adds a series of warm-toned trims and upholstery to the Corsair’s interior, while the second, Eternal Red, provides a throwback appearance with deep red leather and bright aluminum trim. The cargo bay of the Corsair is extremely spacious. We were able to fit eight carry-on suitcases behind the rear seats, one more than the BMW X3. When the rear seatbacks are lowered, there is enough space for 21 cases in total.

Informational Entertainment and Connectivity

The standard gauge cluster screen on the 2023 Corsair is now 2.2 inches larger than the previous 10.1-inch display. Auto Air Refresh is an available air purification system that combines a laser sensor with a cabin filter and can continuously refresh the air.

Standard equipment includes active noise cancellation, ambient lighting, heated front seats, a hands-free liftgate, and walk-up exterior lighting animation. The standard infotainment system features a 13.2-inch touchscreen, 14 speakers, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, a wireless device charger, and USB Type-A and Type-C ports. Available equipment upgrades include a head-up display, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear outboard seats, an adaptive suspension, and the ability to use a mobile phone as the vehicle’s key.

Security Functions and Ratings

The 2023 Corsair is the first SUV in its segment to offer hands-free operation. Lincoln‘s Active Glide 1.2 semi-autonomous system is a new option for the Corsair Grand Touring and is certified for use on 130,000 miles of limited-access, divided highways in the United States. Additionally, the manufacturer enhanced the crossover’s lane-keeping, blind-spot monitoring, and automatic emergency braking systems.

The NHTSA has given the 2023 Corsair FWD and AWD its highest safety rating, five stars, but plug-in hybrid models have not yet received a rating. The IIHS has not yet provided ratings for the 2023 model year, but for the first three model years, the Corsair received the Top Safety Pick award.
