2023 Mitsubishi ASX Full Review New

2023 Mitsubishi ASX spans more than a decade into the current generation, and the brand is always trying to maintain its fit with multiple facelifts. The model recently received a major update that attempts to hide its age behind a new face and new equipment until a complete restyle. Mitsubishi recently said that an all-new version is in the pipeline, but it’s certainly 18 months away from its debut. Meanwhile, the 2023 Mitsubishi ASX continues from its last round of upgrades.

The 2023 ASX got a new front end handling and a new engine for the latest update. The new round of upgrades also brought an improved intonation system and new equipment sets. The next version should keep all things in the same place while there will be some interference with equipment availability. Mitsubishi will also introduce new color and wheel styles.

2023 Mitsubishi ASX Powertrain

The 2023 Mitsubishi ASX should return with the same petrol engines as reports claim. The latest update brings the new 2.4-liter engine, while lower-spec models continue to use the 2.0-liter engine.

The 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine produces 110 kW (147 hp) and 197 Nm of torque. This version should again be available with the five-speed manual transmission or the continuously variable transmission. Buyers can upgrade to a more powerful and convenient 2.4-liter four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 123 kW (164 hp) and 222 Nm of torque. The model is available with two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive.

Behind the wheel, the ASX is confident and comfortable, but not as much as its newer, more advanced competitors. The model is distinguished by accurate steering and provides average fuel consumption. Many competitors offer a more efficient and powerful turbo engine.

2023 Mitsubishi ASX Design

A recent facelift has made the 2023 Mitsubishi ASX look newer than it actually is, but when you’re behind the wheel, everything becomes much clearer. The model wears the brand’s latest front end design, which has also been applied to the Triton truck. The trademark “Dynamic Shield” design at the front is combined with the two-piece headlights that have become popular in the industry.

While the front part conforms to the brand’s new design language, the side and rear profile of the model recognize the shape of previous updates. The Mitsubishi ASX retains the styling theme of the current version, while there should be new wheel and color options to choose from.

2023 Mitsubishi ASX Interior and equipment

While the latest update has brought about significant design changes, there have been far fewer upgrades to the model’s cabin. The model retained the same layout, cab controls and instrumentation, while adding an updated infotainment system with an 8.0-inch touchscreen. The 2023 ASX will run from the last update and there will be no new upgrades to the model’s cabin.

Mitsubishi ASX features ergonomic shaft positions and logically arranged controls. Each version will have a state-of-the-art infotainment system with an 8.0-inch touch screen, Apple Car Play and Android Auto support. The ASX also gets no less than four speakers, which also include digital radio, USB and Bluetooth connectivity. The base ASX also comes with 18-inch alloy wheels and LED lighting. At the level of safety there is an automatic parking brake with detection of pedestrians and cyclists. The higher ranks include additional active safety equipment such as Lane Departure Warning, Lane Change Assist, Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Traffic Warning and Reverse Sensors.

2023 Mitsubishi ASX Release Date, Price

Mitsubishi has yet to announce a release date and price for the upcoming 2023 Mitsubishi ASX. The model should follow the brand’s usual sales schedule and release late in the year. The price should stay close to the current range. The current version is available in Australia starting at $24,990, and the price range should start at around $21,000 in the UK.

The small SUV segment has exploded in the past decade and the Mitsubishi ASX faces a host of newer and more advanced competitors. Buyers looking for a compact and agile SUV should also consider Hyundai Kona, Kia Seltos, Honda HR-V, Renault Kadjar, Nissan Qashqai, etc.
