2023 Nissan Pathfinder, SL Full Reviews
After serious changes in the upcoming 2023 Nissan Pathfinder will not change much. This popular SUV is about to enter a new chapter with significant improvements. This means that 2023 Nissan Pathfinder will offer minor updates. The fifth generation of the Pathfinder is about to arrive with an all-new design, interior features and powertrain options.
This model continues to offer a reliable V6 engine with more than solid performance. Some rumors are also predicting a plug-in hybrid variant, but this is far from official. Anyway, Nissan will release its new model sometime next year, and here’s everything you need to know.
2023 Nissan Pathfinder Facelift
The Pathfinder lost some of its initial appeal with the fourth generation, but the 2022 redesign has regained some of it. That’s why the 2023 Nissan Pathfinder remains aesthetically pleasing. In any case, this model now has a straighter design, flat nose, bold LED headlights, and a pronounced V-Motion grille.
Additionally, the Pathfinder comes with flared bumpers and other features that differentiate this new crossover from the outgoing model. Since it’s only in its second year of the fifth generation, we expect the design to remain unchanged.
2023 Nissan Pathfinder Interior changes
Not much will change in the new 2023 Nissan Pathfinder. A next-generation model is about to arrive, so the 2023 Nissan Pathfinder will remain largely intact. This is not a bad thing as this model comes with a smart cabin design and a modern interior. For starters, it offers slim buttons, a short gear lever, a touchscreen infotainment screen, and a flat-bottom steering wheel.

Some areas of the cabin, such as the seats, look more sporty. Upper trim levels are available with standard leather trim, as before. Technology in the Pathfinder is packed with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.8-inch front-facing display and a 9-inch touchscreen with Android Auto/Apple CarPlay.
New 2023 Nissan Pathfinder 9-speed transmission
The upcoming 2023 Nissan Pathfinder will keep the 3.5-liter V6 engine from the previous generation. This unit generates 284 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. However, the Pathfinder SUV has ditched the CVT transmission in favor of a new nine-speed automatic. Four-wheel drive is available as an option on all models. In addition, the all-wheel drive system offers seven driving modes. In addition to the smooth ride and sound-damping components, Nissan has made the Pathfinder a quiet car.
With a fully equipped AWD system, the Pathfinder achieves fuel economy of 21 mpg city and 27 mpg highway. Front-wheel drive is standard, which results in fairly high fuel efficiency. Finally, a hybrid powertrain should be available. It will add about 13 horsepower and 9 pound-feet of torque. However, the hybrid variant is not yet official.
2023 Nissan Pathfinder price and release date
The 2023 Nissan Pathfinder doesn’t have an official release date yet, but we’re expecting it to arrive in the summer of 2022. Pricing is still unknown, but since no changes are expected, we expect the 2023 Pathfinder to maintain its current $34,500 price tag. The mid-size three-row crossover competes against the Kia Telluride, Honda Pilot, and Ford Explorer.
2023 Nissan Pathfinder SL
Nissan Pathfinder, a new SUV family, an interesting car. It’s an excellent vehicle for families and can be head scratching in other ways. The seven-passenger SUV is built on the same platform as the 2017 Nissan Armada, which was also built in Canton.
We were appalled by Nissan’s decision to keep the Sentra, a comfortable and compact sedan, while redesigning the Rogue SUV into a more aggressive sporty option. Pathfinder appears to be following Rogue’s path. The suspension provides an extraordinary degree of shock toughness for a family of automobile-based SUVs.
If that’s what you want, this is an excellent way to get it. But it is not the best choice for a lot of miles off-road. The optional V-6 engine gets you fairly fast. The six-speed automatic transmission has learned some new tricks since the last generation.

It’s noisy with lurking turmoil creeping into the suburban streets. Rogue’s chassis was a bit sturdier than Pathfinder, allowing for a bit more movement after each impact. Wiesenfelder did not go that far.
We didn’t get the Rogue S and Pathfinder involved in the same crash to test the higher models. If a car hits something in front or behind, you don’t know exactly what you’re hitting because the driver has no control over the collision.
2023 Nissan Pathfinder SL Specification
The 2023 Nissan Pathfinder SL comes in a new color, Satin Pearl Ivory, 8-speed manual transmission, oversized hubcaps, wheel locks, deck-lid spoiler, keyless access, keyless start button, and more.
2023 Nissan Pathfinder SL Design
The fifth-generation Pathfinder, featuring a new design, powertrain and technology, was launched in 2022. We expect the 2023 Nissan Pathfinder SL to be a carryover model, as this crossover continues. Pathfinder’s powerful magic was lost in the fourth-generation redesign, but it’s back a bit with the 2022 redesign.
The most obvious change can be found on the outside, as Nissan has brought back some of the solidity that made its name. The new crossover features a flatter design, a prominent V-shaped grille and flared fenders. We expect the plan to remain the same, even if it is only in the second year.
The interior of the new 2023 Nissan Pathfinder SL is sporty and sporty. It features a simple dashboard setup, a modern HVAC interface, a shortened gearbox, flat-bottom steering wheels and a “floating” infotainment screen. The Pathfinder can be loaded with luxury options, such as the quilted semi-aniline leather seats.
Pathfinder’s 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 10.8-inch head-up display, and 9.8-inch touchscreen with Android Auto/Apple CarPlay are all tech-friendly. The interior design and features of the 2023 Pathfinder remain the same.
2023 Nissan Pathfinder SL interior
The Pathfinder’s front row materials replace the ubiquitous, stiff plastics of the previous generation with generous padding.
Much of it is decorated with double stitching. A pair of leather cushions enhance the front seats. This touch is for show only, but the decorative perforated material makes a more luxurious impression than the hard plastic of the previous model. The second row retains the comfortable seating position of its predecessor and ample headroom for taller passengers.
While the electronic gear selector and drive mode button were a bit loose in our test car, the other controls seemed ready to go. The silver accents of the cab are attractively polished and it’s nice to see the quality extend beyond platinum.
We tasted the quality of SL with a base leather cover instead of semi-aniline cowhide in platinum. The seats are firm but supportive. There are not many reinforcements. More of a gentle curve that curves around your body. Seat bottoms are slightly higher than the backrests to provide more thigh support.
This, combined with the long wheelbase, makes the ride as comfortable as it is quiet and smooth. However, the materials were consistent throughout – which is a good step in the right direction given the trim level cuts. The new interior of the Pathfinder is better than its predecessor and can now compete with the best in its class. The dashboard has a clean, modern design, with many soft-touch surfaces throughout. While hard plastics may be present, they are hidden in less visible places.

The overall build quality is solid and high quality. Insulation is good for reducing wind noise and road noise.

You can choose between a standard 8-inch touchscreen or an optional 9-inch screen for the 2023 Nissan Pathfinder SL.
Both touch screens work well and respond quickly to input. They also have simple menus. Both are accompanied by different buttons and buttons on the dashboard to control the sound and climate. This setting makes it easy to adjust settings on the go.
The analog gauge cluster is reliable, but the 12.3-inch digital cluster offers some interesting tricks. It can also display useful navigational displays between the speedometer and tachometer, with step-by-step directions.
Standard infotainment features: 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, four USB ports, six stereo speakers.

2023 Nissan Pathfinder SL engine
ZF Friedrichshafen is a German auto supplier that supplies the Pathfinder nine-speed automatic transmission.
This transmission is mated to Nissan’s 3.5-liter V6 engine, which produces 284 horsepower and 259 pound-feet of torque. Nine speeds to quickly switch between gears when you need more power. However, it can sometimes slow down on moderate starts and make the engine red during low-speed acceleration at embarrassingly low revs. Without the driver feeling unstable, the powertrain can produce enough low torque for such situations.
