2023 Subaru Crosstrek, XTI, Sport Full Review New

The 2023 Subaru Crosstrek appears trail-ready with its rugged styling and beefy tires, but don’t be fooled: it’s a car masquerading as an SUV. It won’t be able to compete with Jeep Wranglers and Ford Broncos at the off-road park, but it’s more comfortable and carlike on the road than those specialized dirt movers.

The Crosstrek is based on the Impreza hatchback and comes standard with all-wheel drive, just like every other Subaru except the BRZ sports car. Its raised suspension does provide sufficient ground clearance to traverse rutted dirt roads and grassy knolls, so that’s something. Unfortunately, the base 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine lacks power, particularly when paired with the optional continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT); a six-speed manual transmission is standard.

The optional 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine is the superior option, as it provides the Crosstrek with brisker acceleration. There’s also a plug-in hybrid for the environmentally conscious.

What’s Different in 2023?

The 2023 Subaru Crosstrek will feature a Special Edition trim. The Crosstrek Special Edition adds dark exterior accents, red interior accents, and a larger 8.0-inch touchscreen to the Premium trim. We anticipate that the 2024 Crosstrek will be completely redesigned.

In 2023, a Special Edition model is added to the Crosstrek lineup. It is based on the Premium trim and features Desert Khaki (also known as tan) paint, 17-inch wheels, and dark gray exterior trim. The interior upholstery is black and red in color.

The Sport model’s additional features—unique 17-inch wheels, yellow-stitched upholstery, faux-carbon-fiber trim, and advanced driving modes—are nice, but it’s the more powerful 182-hp 2.5-liter engine that justifies the premium. All-wheel drive is standard on the Crosstrek, just as it is on other Subaru sedans and SUVs, a rarity among small SUVs, where it is typically optional or not offered at all.

Will Subaru Create a Wilderness Crosstrek?

Subaru created a Wilderness trim level that is irresistible to outdoor enthusiasts: begin with a standard Subaru; add a lift kit, knobby tires, skidplates, and tough body cladding; and finish with gold accents. Will a Crosstrek Wilderness exist? Perhaps. The Crosstrek is essentially a Subaru Impreza Wilderness; it is based on that compact hatchback and features Wilderness-style accessories.

We could envision Subaru expanding the Wilderness trim level to new models, but the Crosstrek would have to be substantially upgraded to justify the badge.

Powertrain, Engine, and Performance

The Crosstrek’s standard 152-horsepower four-cylinder engine makes a lot of noise but lacks motivation. As with many of its rivals, accelerating to highway speed is a painfully slow process regardless of whether you opt for the standard manual transmission or the available automatic transmission. In our testing, it took a 2.0-liter automatic model 9.2 seconds to reach 60 miles per hour. The plug-in hybrid model achieved 60 mph in 0.9 seconds less than the 2.0-liter model. This lack of power is partially remedied by the optional 182-hp 2.5-liter engine offered on the Legacy sedan and Outback wagon. It propels the Crosstrek to 60 mph in 7.5 seconds, which is still slow but makes passing on a two-lane road or merging onto the interstate much less stressful.

However, the Crosstrek’s handling is pleasingly car-like due to its well-weighted steering and composed ride. The suspension is firm without being harsh, and it absorbs larger bumps without incident. The plug-in hybrid model can be fully charged in as little as two hours when connected to a 240-volt outlet, as opposed to five hours when connected to a standard 120-volt outlet. With only 17 miles of electric-only range, purchasers should anticipate spending considerable time in gas mode.

Energy Efficiency and Real-World MPG

The 2023 Subaru Crosstrek is one of the most fuel-efficient subcompact crossovers, with excellent EPA fuel economy ratings and some of the best results in our real-world testing. The Crosstrek’s 2.0-liter engine and continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) are rated by the EPA at 28 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway. The manual transmission results in significant decreases to 22 and 29 mpg, respectively. The 2.5-liter engine and CVT are rated at 27 city/34 highway miles per gallon.

On our 75-mph fuel-economy route, which was part of our extensive testing regimen, the 2.0-liter with an automatic transmission achieved 32 mpg, while the 2.0-liter with a manual transmission achieved 31 mpg. The hybrid model is rated at up to 90 MPGe combined and 35 mpg on the highway, but in our testing we only achieved 30 mpg. Visit the EPA’s website for more information about the Crosstrek’s fuel economy.

Cargo, Comfort, and Interior

In typical Subaru fashion, the Crosstrek’s interior is functional rather than aesthetically pleasing. Its lack of flair is perfectly acceptable in the less expensive models, but the Limited model, whose options can exceed $30,000, begins to feel a bit drab. A few bits of faux-carbon-fiber trim and orange stitching are feeble attempts to enliven the interior, but the overall atmosphere remains dark and drab, despite the availability of lighter gray cloth or leather upholstery.

Folding down the 60/40 split-folding rear seat of the Crosstrek significantly increases cargo space, but the folded seats do not create a completely flat cargo floor. In our testing, the Nissan Rogue Sport held more cargo despite its smaller exterior dimensions. With the rear seats folded, the Crosstrek was able to accommodate 19 of our carry-on suitcases, while the Rogue Sport accommodated 20. As a result of the hybrid model’s cargo floor being raised to accommodate the battery pack, we could only fit 17 carry-ons with the seats folded.

Informational Entertainment and Connectivity

The StarLink infotainment system from Subaru is well-organized, comes standard with an abundance of connectivity features, and is simple to use on a daily basis. Standard equipment includes a 6.5-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, Bluetooth connectivity, and a USB port. The Limited and hybrid models feature a larger 8.0-inch touchscreen with SiriusXM satellite radio and some additional support apps; navigation is optional with the 8.0-inch display only.

 XTI

The 2023 Subaru Crosstrek XTI Package is a rare find on the road. The Crosstrek is a modified Impreza, but it has a higher ride height and standard all-wheel drive. He is more skilled in inclement weather and rough terrain. It is quiet, well equipped and comfortable on the road. This model is available in three versions of Subaru. An electric powertrain will be available soon. It was brand new for 2018, based on the usual longevity of the brand, the next update should come for 2021.

There were rumors that the model could receive special treatment in the 2023 Subaru Crosstrek XTI. While this is likely to be another round of speculation about the powerful Crosstrek, it’s an interesting one. Similar rumors were heard when Subaru submitted the 2008 Forester XTI Concept to SEMA, but Subaru has not commented on them.

A sports dashboard will be integrated into the model. The contrasting red stitches should also make it stand out.

It supports compatibility with Apple Car Play and Android Auto. A powerful audio system should be included with the EyeSight kit in the package. This model increases traffic awareness and responds with adaptive cruise control and active lane control.

2023 Subaru Crosstrek XTI engine

The Subaru Crossstroke 2.0-liter flatbed engine produces 152 horsepower and 145 pound-feet. You can choose between a six-speed manual and a continuously variable transmission. All versions are equipped with an advanced all-wheel drive system.

Reports indicate that Subaru WRX engines can be used if the 2023 Subaru Crosstrek XTI is built. This would significantly improve the implementation of the model. The 2.0-liter SUBARU BOXER Crosstrek XTI four-cylinder engine should produce around 268 horsepower. It also produces 258 lb-ft of torque. With 310 horsepower and 290 pound-feet of torque, a 2.5-liter turbocharged Boxer engine could be an alternative.

2023 Subaru Crosstrek Sport

The Subaru product has undergone continuous improvement over the years. There are many reasons why this works, but the main reason has to be the quality of the Subaru cars. The product has made a name for itself and remains the top choice for quality vehicles in the American market today. It offers a wide range of buyers from different strata of modern society. Sticking to the company’s track record and the elements that helped the brand name achieve this high level of results. In 1992, Subaru BRAT became a household name, as at the time it was probably the most compact four-wheeled passenger car on the market today.

2023 Subaru Crosstrek Sport Redesign

Plenty of crossovers offer a very generic aesthetic, but Subaru does a great job of creating a seemingly intriguing 2023 Subaru Crosstrek Sport, while maintaining a clean, innovative urban aesthetic combined with a tough exterior attitude. It is based on the aerodynamic hood, black frame, side rails of the high roof structure, and roof spoiler. The basic, high-end Crosstrek features halogen multi-reflector headlights with integrated daytime running light fixtures, and cruises over 17 inches. Metal wheels.

Halogen fog lights are installed on the Premium model, limited options only, and a fully powered lighting complement, as well as targeting sensitive headlights. 18 inches. Alloy wheels that fit more effectively into the arches of tires with a luxurious finish.

Apparance

At 63.6 inches long and 71 inches thick, the Subaru Crosstrek is a bit longer than a regular compact hatchback—basically a hatchback with reinforced brackets and small suspensions, spaced at 175.8 notches, the Honda HR-V is just 170.4 inches tall, 63.2 inches high and 69.8 inches wide. inches, the Crosstreks’ wheelbase is 104.9″ much longer than the 102.8″ of the HR-V.

Despite Subaru‘s application of better, smoother plastics at critical contact points and accent stitching on the car’s seats on higher-end models, the interior of the 2023 Subaru Crosstrek Sport continues to show a distinct flair for ability and durability as well as good looks. The overall quality is outstanding and everything seems to have been optimized for a passionate adventure or unexpectedly sustainable freight transport.

All things are anatomically positioned and the driver and infotainment system start-up and air conditioning are all easy to judge and operate. The passenger compartment is spacious via the Crosstrek cabin and the car seats provide ample comfort and service. But 6.5 inches basic. The touchscreen for infotainment may be very small, but STARLINK software is at least personally welcome.

2023 Subaru Crosstrek Sport Specifications:

Boxer’s smooth 2-liter engine swings under the hood on every 2023 Subaru Crosstrek Sport, and it’s sad to say there’s absolutely nothing to write home about exactly how prominent it is — 152 horsepower and 145 pound-feet of torque that just doesn’t feel right. Specifically for driving the AWD crossover. The Crosstrek would be helped greatly by a compact turbo mill that could revive the torque and actually allow it to produce more enthusiastic performance overall.

When the six-speed manual gearbox, typical of the Basic and Premium models, gives sparkling general answers, it’s almost nothing special and seems more in tune with the urban environment than the roads. The usual limited and extra car fare for discounted combinations, but it’s a poor setup, offering unintuitive and slow responses, due to the engines’ lack of torque. However, it can have an X way travel mode, which helps master slippery surfaces by similar to a low-range gearbox for superior off-road capability.

Transmission

A manual transmission is the wiser choice between the two; However, some buyers will find their dissatisfaction with the undeniable fact that it is not available at the top of the limited range. The powertrain of the 2023 Subaru Crosstrek Sport, aside from its tough AWD design, is generally not entirely satisfactory. Regardless of its somewhat mediocre drivetrain, the Subaru Crosstrek continues to show a little more than the usual efficiency in travel quality and dynamism assurance. The traditional summon chest is tuned high, but not to deliver a solid flight.

It helps absorb constant use and avoid most crashes and big ripples on highways without a hitch. With his balanced guidance and current experience, this person also believes that he is quite confident and firmly planted from the edges, plus, regardless of his long-traveling stature, he shows very little of his body among the mutants. In general, his experience and cooperation can be compared with the Impreza hatchback;

The Crosstrek is like a car, very simple and hygienic. It’s on the off-road tracks where Crosstrek really impresses. Subaru‘s AWD programs are recognized, and the Crosstrek does a good job of maintaining confident amounts of traction regardless of major ailments. Inevitably, Subaru has done a great job of perfecting the urban-focused handling quality of the 2023 Subaru Crosstrek Sport with semi-off-road capabilities.

2023 Subaru Crosstrek Sport Price

However, the information is limited to rumors. But Subaru ranks the 2023 Subaru Crosstrek Sport selection similar to other compact crossovers in the class. The base model also comes with a base price of $24,145, which excludes any subscription and income tax, or certification service fee, just like the Subaru vacation spot and runs on a 2010 dollar fee.
