Subaru means business. A new concept of an all-electric SUV has attracted a lot of attention. But not many experts believed that the Japanese company would enter production soon. However, we are now one step closer to the premiere of the 2023 Subaru Solterra.
Fans have to admit that this wouldn’t be possible without Toyota. Two car giants join the 2023 Subaru Solterra, the first of their model. Some sources even claimed that the new Land Cruiser could get a Boxer engine! Soon there will be more news about this cooperation.
Subaru is still very quiet about its new car. The official page doesn’t say much. However, new images have been released recently. Our first thought was that the SUV was based on Toyota‘s bZ4X model. Again, no wonder, knowing that the two automakers will be working together more often in the future.
2023 Subaru Solterra What do we know so far?
Subaru has released some details about the new Soltera. The name comes from two Latin words meaning “sun” and “earth”. The car will be an all-electric model built on the e-Subaru platform. The focus is on all-terrain capability with AWD symmetric across the lineup. The company promises sufficient ground clearance. Advanced technology will include more safety features, enhancing the hallmark of all Subaru vehicles. One fun fact that can tell you a lot about this is that more than 95 percent of cars sold in the last 10 years are still driving. The new 2023 Subaru Solterra will offer advanced technologies, but the focus will also be on interior comfort.

2023 Subaru Solterra Expectations
The 2023 Subaru Solterra is set to take its place in an entirely new category, and not just for the Japanese automaker. There are not many electric crossovers and SUVs on the market. However, all the major companies are planning for the electric future. Tesla is a leading company and car maker that must be catching up. Ford and GM are also planning an attack on this class, while Japanese automakers are introducing promising concepts. Nissan has Ariya and Toyota bZ4X. German automakers are one step ahead, the first units have already begun to roll out to factories.
Inspired by the Toyota PZ4X, the 2023 Subaru Solterra will enhance the offering with some of Subaru‘s distinctive features. The entire segment has not been sufficiently explored and the company seems to be taking a big premium. Off-road vehicles with an electric drive cause a lot of pessimism. Not for nothing, the best 4×4 units use large displacements with a great deal of power.
2023 Subaru Solterra price range, specifications
There are no details about the powertrain at this time. The electric battery must meet the requirements. For now, we know the Solterra will be off-road oriented. Range depends on terrain and weather conditions. On public roads, the 2023 Subaru Solterra will likely have a range of 200 miles. Other questions include charging time and network of charging stations. The good thing about the upcoming car is that the EV qualifies for a tax credit and can save you $7,500.
The price is also a mystery. But as electrical technology advances and development costs drop, we could see a Solterra 2023 MSRP of just under $35,000, depending on battery size and overall dimensions. The company has already added an annual prefix to its name, so the EV will be available as 2023 YM. The premiere and release date have yet to be determined. Development appears to be going well. It didn’t take long for the first appearance and the latest photos of the SUV to be seen.

2023 Subaru Solterra EV
On the offensive of many new electric vehicles, the latest EV model was the 2023 Subaru Solterra EV. The Solterra EV is Subaru‘s first electric vehicle. The Solterra isn’t entirely unknown, though the EV crossover shares the design with the recently unveiled Toyota bZ4X. Read more to discover the Subaru Soltera EV 2023 release date, price and specifications.
What does the name Subaru Saltera mean?
According to Subaru, the name Solterra is a fusion of two Latin words: “sol” and “terra”. “Sol” in Latin means “sun” and “terra” means earth. Do you want to drive a Subaru Soltera, also known as a “Sun Earth” car?
2023 Subaru Solterra EV electric motor specifications: horsepower and acceleration
The Solterra 2023 will make its US debut on November 17, 2021 at the Los Angeles Auto Show. However, Subaru unveiled the Solterra this week ahead of its world debut in Japan, where the EV crossover will be produced. At the unveiling of the car in Japan, Subaru announced Japanese specifications for the Solterra. It is likely that many of the specifications are the same as for the US version. However, some things may change, such as making all-wheel drive standard for all US models.
Like the Toyota bZ4X, the Solterra has a single electric motor for the front-wheel drive model and dual electric motors for the four-wheel drive model. The power is 201 hp for the single-engine and all-wheel drive version and 215 hp for the two-engine and all-wheel drive version.
For acceleration, the Solterra is expected to have a 0-62 mph (0-100 kph) time of 7.1 seconds for the AWD model, just like the bZ4X. If you’re hoping to get Tesla-like acceleration for your electric car, the relatively slower acceleration time may disappoint you a bit.
2023 Subaru Solterra EV Chariging
In its world debut in Japan, Subaru listed the Solterra electric range as 330 miles for the front-wheel drive model and 290 miles for the all-wheel drive model. This is interesting because that driving range is much higher than what Totoya lists for the bZ4X. Toyota claims the bZ4X has 230 miles of range for the FWD version and 200 miles of range for the AWD version.
However, the different driving ranges are likely due to differences in testing procedures. Once Solterra is released to US specs, the range numbers may change and end up being the same as the bZ4X. Also, like the bZ4X, the Solterra can be charged up to 80% in 30 minutes when using a DC fast charging station.
As mentioned earlier, the American version of the 2023 Subaru Solterra EV may have all-wheel drive as standard. This makes sense because Subaru, with its outward-facing vehicles, has all-wheel drive as standard on all of its US models. The only exception is the Subaru BRZ. The Solterra will also have “X Mode” for riding in slippery conditions and on uneven terrain, as well as “Grip Control” for more off-road mobility.
As more information becomes available about the 2023 Subaru Solterra EV, we will provide updates. This includes things like each Solterra lot price, official release date, more detailed specifications, confirmed range, MPGe efficiency ratings, color options, and a full feature list.

Additionally, the Solterra may cost less for some car buyers through the Federal Electric Vehicle Tax Credit.
