2024 Audi Q9 Full Review New

2024 Audi Q9. We originally learned about the Q9 rumors quite some time ago. Since the full size’s trademark registration in 2013, there hasn’t been much communication from the people behind it. In the meantime, the VW Group is introducing many new midsize SUVs based on the MLB platform. But now that circumstances have changed, it appears that a full-size SUV may be arriving at last. According to recent reports, it will debut as the Audi Q9 2024 by the end of this year.

However, not much is known about the new SUV. The test model was spotted wearing fully camouflaged clothing. However, the mechanical aspect of the car remains a mystery. While the MLB platform appears to be the perfect option, several reports indicate that the new model could use the MQB platform, indicating that Ingolstadt plans to offer this SUV only in China. Anyway, this new model is currently in the testing phase, so we expect to know more about it in the near future. In the meantime, we can do nothing but speculate.

2024 Audi Q9 Redesign

As we just mentioned, the Audi Q9 2024 may be offered only for the Chinese market. This is interesting because China is a fairly specific market. Buyers love big cars but also prefer to pay less than buyers from other parts of the world. That is why many believe that the Audi Q9 2024 will come in a simpler package.

Quite simply, we mean different platforms. Normally, we’d expect to see him ride on the MLB platform, the same platform that powers midsize SUVs like the Q7 and Q8. However, many rumors say that this new SUV will use the MQB platform. If you’re familiar with this architecture, you know it’s mostly used for smaller vehicles in the VW range, which feature a transversely-mounted engine and front-wheel drive design. However, this platform also supports one of Volkswagen‘s largest vehicles, the Atlas. So, we wouldn’t be surprised if we see the Q9 share most of it with the full-size Volkswagen crossover.

2024 Audi Q9 Exterior

As mentioned earlier, test mules were spotted on the road. It’s still fully camouflaged, so we can talk about the details of the style. However, we assume that it will share its aesthetics with other Audi models. It will come with the same design language, although the overall look is a bit boxy compared to the Q7. This is where we see the connection with the Atlas, on the edge of the box that is not typical of an Audi crossover.

When it comes to dimensions, it’s hard to talk about exact numbers at this point. However, if we take into account the close relationship with the Atlas, the wheelbase could be the same, which means 117.3 inches between the wheels. However, if we consider that the Q7 has a wheelbase of 117.9 inches, we assume that the Atlas platform will stretch a little.

2024 Audi Q9 Interior Rumors

Whatever the platform, we have no doubt that the cabin will be designed in the signature Audi style. In other words, we will be looking at a set of elements of a conservative style with a lot of technological features. This combination has worked well in the case of Audi so far, so we don’t see any reason why Ingolstadt would offer anything different.

Of course, the main thing in this model is the internal space. We didn’t expect more than three rows of seating, plenty of legroom and ample cargo space. It is possible that a more exclusive version will have a second-row captain’s seat, but this has not yet been confirmed.

2024 Audi Q9 Powertrain Specification Performance

Another important thing in the 2024 Audi Q9 is the powertrain lineup. Using the MQB platform means that the engines are tangentially mounted, which means there won’t be room for larger-capacity engines, such as the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 that powers the Q7 and Q8. Instead, the base engine will be the popular 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder. We expect to see it in two production variants, with either 183 or 217 horsepower.

The North American Atlas is also available with the good old VR6 3.6L engine but that won’t be the case in China. The Atlas China, called the Teramont, comes with a 2.5-liter VR6 engine that also uses a turbocharger, so it’s no wonder the peak power is 299 horsepower. The same engine should also find its place under the hood of the Audi Q9 2024. In terms of transmission, we expect all models to have a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

2024 Audi Q9 Release date

According to the latest rumors, the 2024 Audi Q9 will arrive in 2024 at the end of this year. At this point, it’s too early to talk about prices.

Update

In the United States, full-size three-row SUVs, such as the Mercedes GLS and BMW X7, are in high demand. So far, Audi has had success with the three-row seating option at the bottom of the Q7, but is working on a suitable competitor called the Audi Q9 to take on Germany’s two flagship SUVs, according to a report from Automotive News filed in 2021.

Interior Design

The Audi Q9 is expected to feature a more powerful and powerful exterior design than the current Audi Q7. Expect the single-frame octagonal grille, which has been the calling card of high-end Audi SUVs since the Q8’s launch, the slim wedge-shaped headlights connected to the single-frame grille, and the rear composite headlights connected by narrow light strips.

The Audi interior design that inspired the Audi Q9

We expect the inspiration to be drawn from the Q4 e-tron, but the dashboard of the Audi Q9 can be modest compared to the highly digital future Audi EV. Image source: Audi

Inside, expect inspiration from new electric cars like the Q4 e-tron but features are set in a traditional way. The Q9 will likely offer three rows of seats in a standard 2 + 3 + 2 layout as well as an optional 2 + 2 + 2 layout. Audi should focus on electrification to reduce emissions and fuel consumption due to the larger dimensions and extra passengers or cargo load in the third row.

Platforms

Audi hasn’t confirmed that yet, but reports say the Q9 will use the same platform as the Q5, Q7 and Q8 — the MLB Evo or what Audi recently referred to as PPC (Premium Platform Combustion). The Q9 will likely be the largest SUV on the platform, and larger than the Bentley Bentayga (201.8 inches). Rather than offering straightforward performance and uncompromising luxury like the Bentley, Audi will likely focus on aspects such as space and value.

Audi is testing a new large SUV in 2021, which is mistakenly referred to as the Audi Q9 in the media. It’s actually a China-only SUV, the Audi Q6, which is based on the MQB platform and is slightly larger than the Q7 (5.1 meters long). A regional model, this is not related to the Audi Q6 e-tron (electric) that will be introduced in 2020.

The gas-powered Audi Q9, considering the US market, is likely to be much longer than the Q7, perhaps around 5.2 meters (204.7 inches). There is no indication that Audi intends to compete with the Cadillac Escalade ESV, Lincoln Navigator L or Jeep Grand Wagoneer L. American automakers dominate the sector, and even BMW and Mercedes-Benz have moved away. Other than that, we doubt that the Q9 platform will be able to accommodate the dimensions of this American SUV.

Displays

Since Audi plans to introduce another new generation engine in 2026, we expect it to be used in Q9. They will be the best machines the company has ever made, according to the brand. Audi‘s ultimate internal combustion engine will be the best ever.

Audi could offer a 3.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine with hybrid technology and mild plug in the Q9. Companies can target EPA-EST. Electric range is about 40 km of the plug-in hybrid variant. It is also likely that a 4.0-liter V8 biturbo petrol engine with plug-in hybrid technology will also be part of the Q9 powertrain. This may be related to the Lamborghini Urus Evo plug-in hybrid system, which according to a CAR report dated March 4, 2021, will consist of an in-house developed Porsche engine called the ‘LK5’.

Release Day

With the next-generation Q5 slated for launch in 2024 and the next-generation Q7 slated for release in 2024 according to media reports, as well as the new e-tron Q6 family and the e-tron family also in the works in 2024, we doubt Audi‘s ability to program a world premiere Q9 anytime before 2025.

On August 8, 2022, Automotive News reported that the Q9 could join the Audi lineup in 2025. US dealers have reportedly been notified of the new model on the roadmap, but Audi has yet to confirm this.

The US, the second largest SUV market after China, is likely to be one of the first countries to receive the Q9, with prices possibly starting at around US$80,000. Customer delivery units should begin arriving at Audi dealerships in the United States. no later than early 2026.
