When in about 2024 Jeep Commander, there’s been a lot of talk these days about the future Jeep lineup, and many experts agree that there’s plenty of room for new models. As a company that only produces SUVs and crossovers (excluding the Gladiator), Jeep will definitely need to expand its range to become more competitive than before. This will also include models placed somewhere in between the common parts and this is where many see a place for the 2024 Jeep Commander. The well-known painting has not existed since that time, although there is a copy in China known as the Great Commander.
This version could still come to North America to fill the gap between the two parts. If the rumors of the next generation Grand Cherokee are true, it makes perfect sense. Reportedly, the famous crossover will be much larger. That leaves room to put the 2024 Jeep Commander somewhere between a compact Cherokee and a midsize Grand Cherokee. At this point, this is all just speculation, so move on to the next few paragraphs with major reservations.
2024 Jeep Commander Engine
Like we said, this model has a lot in common with the Cherokee. However, that doesn’t mean you can count on a big, thirsty V6 engine. The 2024 Jeep Commander would rather focus on the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which offers much better overall efficiency and performance. The Chinee comes with a 230 horsepower version with 258 pound-feet of torque. However, in North America we could also see a more powerful variant, fit for around 270 horsepower and a respectable 295 pound-feet of torque. Either way, you can count on the trusted FCA nine-speed automatic transmission.
2024 Jeep Commander Design
When it comes to the 2024 Jeep Commander, we assume it will be the same vehicle as the great Chinese commander. Size-wise, this model measures just over 110 inches between axles. That fits perfectly with the above story about criticizing this model between the Cherokee (about 106 inches in the wheelbase) and the Grand Cherokee (114 inches in the wheelbase). Closely related to the compact Cherokee, this SUV also has American compact architecture that has been updated for the occasion. Aesthetically speaking, do not expect major changes. The Chinese version comes with a typical pocket design, with familiar aesthetics and general design language. On the other hand, we can see some modifications inside.

Here we can see some changes for the potential 2024 Jeep Commander. While the Grand Commander will come in three rows, the North American version will likely come with five seats, with comfortable, spacious two rows of seats and good luggage space behind. Of course we can also see a slightly revised dashboard, with some aesthetic changes, high-quality materials and more good technical stuff.
Another thing that we can easily see in North America is the new PHEV version, which recently appeared in China. This is a new hybrid system that is distinctly different from that found in the Chrysler Pacifica, in that it relies on a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine instead of a V6. This promises significantly better fuel economy, but the new version will have a lot more great things to offer. This system comes with two electric motors and a 13 kWh battery pack. With this capacity, you can count on a respectable electric range of up to 70 kilometers. You can count on a fully hybrid regenerative braking system that converts kinetic energy into electricity, while also recharging the battery when the crossover slows down from high speeds, with electric motors acting as a generator.
Sources like Motor1 also point to a chance to see this crossover under the Chrysler badge. While this may sound confusing, things are actually quite simple when you look at Chrysler‘s current lineup. The well-known brand currently offers only two models. On the other hand, there is the recently updated Pacifica, which is expected to last for years to come. On the other hand, you will find 300 old sedans, which will certainly be discontinued in the near future.
New models are very welcome in the brand’s lineup. It’s no secret that FCA is already working on a large three-row crossover, but this model could also be a great addition. Instead of putting Chrysler‘s badge on the then 2024 Jeep Grand Commander, this model wouldn’t cause much crowd and confusion among Jeep brands, but it would make FCA more competitive in the market anyway. Definitely, which requires some revisions. This mainly refers to aesthetics, so it will also be slightly more expensive solutions. Finally, we can see both versions in the demo, which should come as no surprise.
Anyway, keep in mind that these are all just rumors, so don’t get too excited about the new model too soon.
