What will happen to the 2024 Jeep Gladiator? While the Wrangler is reportedly coming with new updates and possibly an additional hybrid system, does that mean the Gladiator is getting the same treatment as well? And even with the same treatment, will the Gladiator be able to achieve feats as satisfying as its cousin, the Wrangler and even the Grand Cherokee?
2024 Jeep Gladiator vs Jeep wrangler
The Wrangler may only have been in the market for a few years, but Jeep is committed enough to make some changes with the Wrangler JL Series. In fact, the company is very busy with this alternative. The Wrangler needs some updating for its 2021 model, including work on the tech department and more options in the line, including a 392-hp V8 unit, Willys Xtreme Recon tires and also a 4xe plug-in hybrid unit. Seems like all the good work is done for Wrangler, right? Does this mean there is nothing left for the Gladiator?

It turns out there are also some Gladiator buyers who would like to be able to get a 4xe drivetrain just like the one featured on the Wrangler. They would like to have a 4xe unit for the Gladiator this year or next but it seems their wishes haven’t come true. According to some sources to Mopar Insiders about the interior of the Stellantis, there will be a plug-in hybrid only for the 2024 Jeep Gladiator. Well, at least for the US car market, the model (and technology) will be available .. in the 2024 model and not before that.
2024 Jeep Gladiator Powertrain and performance
Jeep seems to be giving Wrangler first priority, including a mid-cycle refresh for the expected 2023 model. After the Wrangler (about a year later), the Gladiator will come. Turn the car into a light. It is possible that the changes will have the same effect on the Wrangler, including the PHEV powertrain, which is also used on the Wrangler and also on the 2022 Grand Cherokee.

If so, it could be powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, paired with two electric motors powered by a 17 kWh battery pack. The setup can generate around 375 hp and 470 Nm of torque. But don’t set it to stone now, those numbers may change later, especially after an update.
The Wrangler 4xe scores an EPA of around 49 miles per gallon equivalent (or MPGe), which is one of the best for a Wrangler. It’s capable of covering 21 miles of pure electric power. Jeep wants the Grand Cherokee to surpass its Wrangler and be able to hit 57 mpg. It’s very likely that the Grand Cherokee has better aerodynamics (meaning a friendlier system) than the boxy Wrangler. So, where is the gladiator? The problem is: the Gladiator is heavier than the Wrangler — weighing up to 500 pounds. When it comes to wind resistance, it’s just a rejection. Unless Jeep does something about it, don’t be too surprised if the Gladiator’s EPA numbers won’t be as satisfactory as its SUV cousin and brother.

2024 Jeep Gladiator Release date
The electric ride is expected to be available in Australia in 2022, the second half of the year. It will come as a Grand Cherokee 4xe. For the European market, Jeep has already offered the Compass and Renegade 4xe, and they have a Grand Commander-e for the Chinese market. They will produce 4x Grand Wagoneer SUV and Wagoneer, although it is not clear what market they will be making for it. So if you want to know more about the 2024 Jeep Gladiator, you will have to wait for more official confirmation from Jeep.
