The upcoming 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE is the luxury mid-size SUV that will mark its fifth generation. There will be many updates and from the first images we can see that the manufacturer will revise its design to make it look more competitive.
With a few modifications, mainly to a longer wheelbase with 3.2 inches and shorter front and rear parts, buyers can expect a more spacious cabin. As before, the interior of the Mercedes-Benz GLE remains comfortable, luxurious and technical.
2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE looks more aggressive
The exterior of the 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE has been improved. The manufacturer will add more aerodynamic and more pronounced design lines to the hood. The front looks more aggressive thanks to the wide grille and massive air intakes. LED taillights and sculpted rear quarters provide a distinctive look.
As before, Mercedes offers Level II autonomous driving. This system includes the ability to change lanes. The list of safety features is long and includes Stop & Go Assist, Steering Assist, Blind Spot Warning, Active Brake Assist and Lane Change Assist. An AMG version is also available and will have all the appeal thanks to its sporty look.

2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE Interior refreshments
Inside the cabin there will be more luxury. However, the new 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE has the same design as before and has two rows of seats with the option to operate the third row of seats entirely electronically. With an extended wheelbase of 3.2 inches, legroom in the second row also feels spacious compared to the previous generation. With all seats folded, cargo space is 73 cubic feet.
Technology is newer and newer GLE has an all-new and highly customizable multimedia system. The same 12.3-inch digital instrument panel is located next to the equally large digital display, and can be operated by touch, gestures or voice control.
A panoramic sunroof also comes standard and is 50 percent more important than before to deliver an unforgettable experience. Other options include leather seats, chrome, optional wood grain and more premium materials.
Two powertrain options
Two engine options are available under the hood of the iconic Mercedes-Benz GLE. The first engine powers the GLE 350. This powertrain consists of a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that delivers 255 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. It uses the famous 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission from Mercedes which provides smooth shifting.
The second engine powers the GLE 450. This model comes with a 3.0-liter supercharged 6-liter electric motor mated to a 48-volt electric motor. Thanks to this combination, the GLE 450 delivers 362 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. As the base engine, it will be equipped with the same 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission. According to the latest Mercedes-Benz tests, this model runs from 0 to 60 in about 5.5 seconds.
2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE release date and price
The launch date of the Mercedes-Benz GLE will be in the summer of 2020, according to the latest reports. Pricing is not yet available, but we can expect it to be close to its predecessor. The outgoing model beats the Audi Q7 and BMW X5 in all segments and starts at around $53,000.
