2024 Mercedes G-Wagon Electric Performance and Powertrain
The G 580e’s electric powertrain will consist of four electric motors, one for each wheel, a lithium-ion battery pack with silicon anode chemistry situated under the floor, and a single-speed transmission that sends power to all four wheels. The electric powertrain will provide more power, torque, and efficiency than the ordinary G-Class’s conventional gasoline engine.
Electric powertrain characteristics

Comparatively, the standard G-Class offers two gasoline engine options: a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 that produces 416 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque in the G 550 model, and a more powerful version of the same engine that produces 577 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque in the AMG G 63 model. The ordinary G-Class has a combined fuel economy rating of 17 mpg according to the EPA.
Range and charging alternatives
The G 580e’s driving range and charging options will be determined by the battery capacity and efficacy of its electric powertrain. As mentioned previously, the EQG concept could travel approximately 300 miles on a single charge. Depending on how much battery technology has improved since the EQG concept, the G 580e will likely have a similar or slightly greater range than the EQG concept. The Tesla Model X has a range of up to 360 miles per charge, whereas the Rivian R1T has a range of up to 314 miles per charge.
The G 580e will have multiple charging options, allowing the driver to replenish the battery in a variety of ways and at varying rates. G 580e will be equipped with a standard 11-kW integrated charger, allowing it to be charged at home or at public AC charging stations. The G 580e will also be equipped with DC fast-charging, allowing it to be charged at high-power DC charging stations that can provide up to 350 kW of power. A DC fast-charging station will allow the G 580e to charge from 10% to 80% of its battery capacity in approximately 30 minutes.

The G 580e will have similar or slightly better off-road capabilities than the standard G-Class, due to its electric powertrain, which will offer more torque and traction than the gasoline engine. The G 580e will also have electric-specific features that improve its off-road performance, including a torque vectoring system that can adjust the amount of torque sent to each wheel individually and a G-turn function that can cause the vehicle to spin on its own axis by turning the wheels on one side in the opposite direction of the wheels on the other side.

2024 Mercedes G-Wagon Electric Pricing and Availability
According to Mercedes-Benz Chairman Ola Kallenius, the 2024 Mercedes G-Wagon Electric will be available in 2024. He disclosed this information at a recent conference.
