Volkswagen will inevitably refresh the 2024 Volkswagen Passat. Using a test mule from the current generation, the automaker began testing the next-generation model in February of this year. VW eventually utilized a production body for testing, albeit while attempting to conceal the details with stickers.

Volkswagen has undoubtedly mastered the art of concealment. Stickers resembling lights, grilles, and other body panels are convincing to the average person, whereas a full-body camouflage wrap attracts attention.
So when this silver 2024 Volkswagen Passat station wagon came into view, the cameras began to snap. This is not the first time we’ve seen test vehicles in public; just a few days ago, we spotted a plug-in hybrid model. As there is no charging port on the fender of this prototype, it appears to be powered exclusively by internal combustion. Fortunately, this vehicle was moving slowly, so our photographer was able to capture crisp, high-resolution images that revealed body lines behind the fake stickers on the front bumper.
It is evident that the traditional VW grille has been removed from the current Passat. Behind that decal is a much smaller opening comparable to the ID.4, and the headlights are also thinner than what we see here. Through the fake corner vent decals, it is very easy to see the lower fascia’s smiling shape as we move our gaze further downward. It’s possible that some trim pieces are missing from this test vehicle, but these images reveal the new Passat’s face with unexpected clarity once the disguise is removed, at least. The same deception occurs in the rear, but the fake black decal fails to conceal the new bumper. There are additionally smaller taillights.

Interior
The interior still appears unfinished, but it provides a very good indication of the final layout. The infotainment system’s screen is comparable to those found in the most recent ID models, although it appears to be slightly larger in the Passat. Even though the images are not particularly clear, it is evident that the digital screen in front of the driver will resemble that of the ID models. Additionally, we can see that the next Passat will have a column shifter to save space in the center console.
