2023 Chevy Camaro, ZL1, Z28 Full Review New

2023 Chevy Camaro. The modern muscle car is more than a scowling face with a rumbling V-8 exhaust note. Chevy’s only four-seater sports coupe is an exciting dance partner thanks to modern chassis technology. Previously, the Camaro’s best party trick could only be performed with the steering wheel in the center position. The Camaro is available as a hard-top coupe or a soft-top convertible and possesses a strong personality. The C7 Corvette offers three levels of power: a 275-hp turbocharged inline-four engine, a 335-hp V-6 engine, and a 455-hp V-8 engine.

At least five years have passed since the Cadillac ATS platform that the current sixth-generation Camaro is based on was discontinued. While its oldest rival, the Ford Mustang, enters a new generation in 2023, the Camaro remains largely unchanged; however, we are not complaining. We still hold out hope that 2023 will not be the final year for the Chevrolet Camaro, even as other muscle cars such as the Dodge Challenger and Charger cease production after 2023.

Exterior

The only changes to the 2023 Chevy Camaro are the addition of 20-inch wheels to the LT, LT1, and SS models.

The SS equipped with the optional 1LE Track Performance package is the best way to experience any new Camaro. It includes unique exterior features such as black-painted 20-inch wheels and satin-black exterior accents, as well as unique interior features such as microsuede trim and more supportive Recaro front seats (SS models only). The most important upgrades, however, are those that affect performance. Every 1LE is equipped with a dual-mode exhaust system, enhanced powertrain-cooling components, more potent brakes, a limited-slip differential, and suspension tuning that strikes a Goldilocks balance for track-day action. While we appreciate that even models with four-cylinder and V-6 engines are available with a 1LE package, we would pair the best chassis hardware with the 1SS trim’s robust V-8 engine. Obviously, this choice would coincide with the selection of the standard manual transmission.

Powertrain, Engine, and Performance

The base 275-hp four-cylinder engine is not sluggish; the manual model we tested was surprisingly quick. However, erratic throttle reactions and undesirable, unsportsmanlike noises relegate it to the budget-buying category. However, upgrading to the 335-hp V-6 completely alters the vehicle’s personality. The tenacious six has its own distinctively savage soundtrack. The Camaro LT1 and SS are equipped with Chevy’s legendary small-block V-8, which produces 455 horsepower and 455 lb-ft of torque. Its immense low-end torque, linear power delivery, and chest-compressing speed are enhanced by the available dual-mode exhaust, which emits a sharp bark at startup and thunderous sounds at wide-open throttle.

The standard six-speed manual transmission preserves the spirit of the enthusiast. (A six-speed manual transmission is standard on vehicles not equipped with the 1LE package.) A smooth-shifting 10-speed automatic transmission can be paired with the V-6 and V-8 engines. A eight-speed automatic transmission is optional with the four-cylinder engine. The Camaro’s remarkable chassis provides an unmatched car-to-driver connection (see what we did there?) among pony cars. Its solid construction enables precise handling and a premium feel. Its well-balanced ride is firm enough for agility on winding roads while remaining compliant over rough terrain.

Coupled with the 1LE setup, the coupes transcend their class, competing with much more expensive, upscale sporting equipment. The 1LE-equipped vehicles are nimble on the track and comfortable on regular roads. Their electrically assisted power steering systems have reasonable efforts and exceptionally precise responses. The hot Chevy’s excellent brakes complete the performance triad; the brake pedal consistently provides progressive and reassuring response. Brembo brakes are even more potent and track-ready on 1LE models.

Energy Efficiency and Real-World MPG

With the turbocharged four-cylinder engine and eight-speed automatic transmission, the 2023 Chevy Camaro is rated at up to 22 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. The V-6 and V-8 engines are less fuel-efficient, with the six topping out at 18 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway, and the eight topping out at 16 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. Nevertheless, the latter engines performed admirably on our 75 mph highway fuel-economy test route, which was part of our extensive testing protocol. Each of the three available Camaro engines paired with the manual transmission performed within 1 mpg (plus or minus) of their EPA-estimated highway fuel economy. Visit the EPA website for more information about the Camaro’s fuel economy.

Interior and Loadspace

The interior of the current-generation Camaro features upgraded materials and a more contemporary design. Its comfortable front seats and straightforward layout are pluses, but its excruciatingly cramped rear seat and compromised visibility hinder its utility as a people carrier. A useful optional head-up display is unavailable in the Dodge Challenger and Ford Mustang. The Camaro can also be equipped with programmable ambient interior lighting, which contributes to its stylish appearance.

The 2023 Chevy Camaro outperforms its competitors on the track and in terms of driving enjoyment, but its rear seat is essentially unusable for adults. The Camaro is also inferior in terms of interior storage and cargo space. It held the least amount of carry-on luggage compared to its competitors and has a trunk opening that is laughably small.

Comfort

The base suspension provides a comfortable ride. The Magnetic Ride Control suspension is more capable on a variety of surfaces (V8 only). In light of the Camaro’s purpose, the ride quality is excellent. The V8 is the only engine that sounds good when driven aggressively.

The front seatbacks are well-shaped and provide good lateral support without being too confining, but the bottom cushion can feel tight to some. Additionally, we appreciate the well-padded door and center armrests. Unsurprisingly, even on short trips, the rear seat is cramped. The climate control vents are oddly positioned in front of the shift lever, where they excel at freezing or warming your hand while cruising.

Informational Entertainment and Connectivity

Every 2023 Chevy Camaro is equipped with an intuitive touchscreen that supports Chevrolet‘s Infotainment 3 software. While the larger 8.0-inch touchscreen does a better job of filling the available space, the plastic bezel appears cheap and its downward angle is awkward. Aside from that, its combination of controls and organized menus is commendable. The standard Chevy setup includes user-friendly controls, aesthetically pleasing menus, responsive feedback, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto that can be accessed without connecting a smartphone to a USB port.

Technology

The 2023 Chevy Camaro is inconsistent in this category. There is a respectable amount of tech features, and we appreciate the infotainment system’s responsiveness and contemporary design, but the screen is oddly positioned on the dashboard. The standard touchscreen is also on the small side, which is one reason to upgrade to the optional navigation-equipped larger touchscreen. Due to its terrible rear visibility, rear parking sensors, blind-spot warning, and rear cross-traffic alert systems are only available on higher trim levels.

Trim Levels

The 2023 Chevy Camaro is a rear-wheel-drive, eight-trim-level muscle car. It begins with the four-cylinder 1LS and progresses through the V6-optional 1LT, 2LT, and 3LT. The LT1 is equipped with a V8, whereas the 1SS and 2SS feature additional performance enhancements. Finally, the formidable ZL1 features a supercharged V8 engine and track pedigree. The majority are coupes or convertibles.

2023 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1

The 2023 Chevy Camaro ZL1 is said to be coming and getting a new lightweight V6 engine. Overall, this is excellent news and it looks like the V8 engine that powers the current model could be replaced. If you didn’t know, the current model uses a 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 that produces 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft.

Details about the upcoming Camaro are still scarce, but we know what this model will look like thanks to a new batch of spy shots. The prototype of this sporty model was caught during testing and it looks more aggressive than we thought.

2023 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Design

There are only a few exterior changes to the 2023 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 range. According to available information, the new model will use the same platform as the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing. The Alpha platform from General Motors is very popular and very durable.

As mentioned, a Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 was spied on a few days ago, getting into the truck. As we note, the newcomer will use GM’s MagneRide suspension technology and carbon-ceramic disc brakes similar to the Blackwing. The rear spoiler is also present to maximize aerodynamics as is the new exhaust system. Interestingly enough, the upcoming car also comes with new black wheels and the same taillights as the base model.

2023 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 cabin upgrades

Every 2023 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is nicely outfitted out of the box and offers more standard features than its competitors. This model looks elegant and sporty and has electrically adjustable front seats with heating and ventilation. A heated steering wheel and dual-zone automatic climate control are also standard. The Camaro’s comfortable cabin seats two and offers a very easy-to-use touchscreen infotainment system.

In addition, the base model also includes a Wi-Fi hotspot and wireless integration from Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. ZL1 is the most preferred version with almost everything available on regular Camaros. This model comes with a Bose audio system, wireless phone charging, and a head-up display.

2023 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 gets a new engine

Rumors are swirling that the upcoming 2023 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 will come with a new engine. The supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 that produces 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet will likely be replaced by a turbocharged four-cylinder or a lighter V6.

It’s also likely that the Camaro will be all-electric, but not before 2024. We expect the new V6 to come with either a six-speed manual transmission or an optional 10-speed automatic transmission.

2023 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Release date and price

Early last month, Chevrolet made a big announcement regarding the new 2023 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 model. It seems that some drastic changes may occur, especially in the engine department. Spy photos are available and the upcoming model has a more attractive design than the current model.
Several designs have also appeared and we have to admit that the Camaro is more than ready to compete with the iconic Corvette. We can expect this model to debut sometime next year as the 2023 model. The current 2023 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 price starts at just under $66,000, and many believe there will be a small jump with the launch of the new version.

2023 Chevrolet Camaro Z28

While Chevy won’t be able to offer any new features in the next production cycle, this is a major update to the Pony. A year later we can expect a great novelty. The latest reports suggest that the iconic trim will return as the 2023 Chevrolet Camaro Z28.

Many generations have been using this popular version for decades. will be back. Recent reports claim that it will be among the ZL1-SS models in the Camaro model hierarchy.

2023 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Redesigned
exterior and interior

Although the design of the model will not change, we do see a new grille. It will have approximately the same thickness as the previous one. There will be some special details about the 2023 Chevrolet Camaro Z28. Details have not yet been determined. We have plans to modify certain areas such as the front and rear fenders, as well as other parts in our body kit.

The mechanics of this new version are still unknown. However, we can assume that there will be upgrades to the SS parts in terms of suspension and chassis. Inside, the same design is used. Unfortunately we cannot provide details. However, we hope that the next update will bring some improvements. The internal quality of the current model is very poor, especially at the lower levels. The version should offer a wide range of unique features.

There are many options, but it should be borne in mind that standard equipment can be used. These features include heated steering wheel, head-up display, leather upholstery, forward collision warning, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic warning and rear cross traffic warning.

2023 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 engine

The 2023 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 is real, but officials haven’t confirmed it yet. It is difficult to predict engine specifications. The new model will be equipped with the popular 6.2-liter V8 engine. We cannot predict the maximum strength. The current Camaro SS produces around 455 horsepower, while the ZL1 Top Class produces 650 horsepower.

The 2023 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 will likely compete with the Mustang Shelby GT 350, which can produce 526 horsepower. The Z28 will produce 550 horsepower. While the Z28 will have the same 10-speed automatic transmission as the ZL1, a manual transmission is recommended.

2023 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Price and Release Date

The 2023 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 is expected to hit the market next year. We couldn’t be more precise at this point. The current SS price is $37,000. The ZL1 costs about $61,000. The Z28 is in the middle and costs about $50,000.
